I am replacing the magneto on a Allis Chalmers C tractor with a Delco Distributor assembly. I would like to know how I go about timing the Delco Distributor?
Thanks,

Find top dead center at number one cylinder on the compression stroke. With the plugs out find the compression stroke by placing your thumb over the plug hole.
Set the points to be just ready to open at the number one plug wire terminal. Check this by rotating the distributor back and forth with the ignition on watching it spark.
It is just that easy. |

and then if you hold the distributor in the advance position and check the point, it will open about the "F" fire mark. Retarded is the TDC. |
