2 head lamp to 4 head lamp conversion questions

I'm converting a 630 from 2 lamp to 4 lamp. (Fender conversion too of course from tear drop to flat top)
Some time ago Buick and Deere said the 4 lamp, when dimmed, uses the "automotive" method of 2 flood lamps energized and long range spot lamps de-energized. Looking at the wiring charts on page 80-5-23 of JD Service Manual SM-2029, it doesn't show a dimming resistor for 4 lamps. So is there no "true" dimming function for 4 lamps? Is the ignition/light switch the same part number for either 2 lamp or 4 lamp? Looking at the manual diagram, it appears that all 4 lamps are never all on at the same time. Which set are called "floods" and which are "long range spots" with reference to their position of inner or outer on the fender? Is the manual diagram totally correct? Are the glass lenses different for flood and spot?

I haven't been around a 4 lamp set up so I'm "in the dark" concerning them. Just want to be sure I understand the intent of the design. Any further explanation beyond the questions I've asked would be most welcome.

The four light system has 2 lights aimed down with the other 2 aimed higher to see ahead of you. The 2 aimed down should be on whenever the lights are on while the 2 higher ones are only on in the bright and work positions. No resistor is used. As to position I would have to look.

Ron, going from memory. Yes, all four can be on at the same time. The two inner lights are for looking down the road (long range spots). The outer lights (floods) shine on the work area, in this case front mounted cultivators or planters in most cases. The lens is different in the two. The switches are the same per the parts book, AR20430R.
