Anyone recognize this rider? I know the picture is bad. It had a 7 horse Briggs on it with a starter/generator. It had a 3 speed trans. You can't tell but the steering wheel wasn't round - it was a 3/4 circle so that you could get the hood open past it.
Just curious as I don't have any pictures that you can read the decals. I've always thought that was one strong 7 horse as we went through stuff on the trench silo that was tall as a man standing. Had to be stronger than my 23 horse Cub Cadet in the shed now.

Only a guess with the way the hood looks it possibly could be a Simplicity. |

Not exactly like one I have but a lot like it. I have an old western auto rider that looks very close to it but did not have the horizontal shaft engine but did have 3 forward speeds and about that size. I still have it all be it I pulled the engine years ago. Still have that engine out there some place and last I knew it ran |

That is a model that MTD built for various department stores. The powder blue-and-white ones were actually marketed by MTD. |

Its a MTD sold at Western Auto and other stores such as Firestone. They were well built machines, not like todays stuff.
The old cast iron 7 horse power Briggs engine will out pull a modern engine of twice the rated horse power. Makes one wonder how they rate the HP on the engines today? |
