Has anyone had any experience working on the 3pt on a farmall 656? I just bought one that has issues, 3pt will lower the raise lever but 3pt will only raise if you leave that lever foward and pull back on the draft lever. If you pull both back then it will raise and top out it will squell. Any help is appreciated!

You"re going to have open it up. Get the shop manual first.

There are two relief valves in the system. It is likely that one is stuck open from moisture/rust or a broken spring. You need to check with a service manual or service tech at IH dealership before opening it up. Both these valves are serviceable from the outside without disassembling the tractor. May not be the problem, but look for the easiest and lowest cost fix first. If you need to see an I&T shop manual page on this, I can scan and send via email. Let me know.
