Went to bed Monday night with a slight pain on my left side. Woke at 3am thinking I had indegestion, took 3 tums and was sitting on the bed when I realized that it was a heart attack. Got up and fell 3 times before I could get my daughter up and call a ambulance. After a 45 minute wait for a ambulnace to travel 7 miles to my house, I had to crawl on the stretcher myself. Rt main 100% clogged and lt at 70%, I will go back in for the left with in the month

When my wife had quadruple bypass surgery a few years ago, she went from not knowing she had a problem to the OR in less than 10 hours.

Happens fast, sometimes.

45 minutes for an ambulance, WTF? That is nuts.
Hope you are feeling better. How old are you?

Had one back in 2001. Ambulance came. They loaded me on a stretcher and tried to carry me down the front steps. Couldn't do it. Loaded me into a wheel chair and tried to carry me down the back steps. Couldn't do it. So.....finally, I walked down the front steps and got into the ambulance myself. Lost a part of the rear lower heart muscle but am still above the grass. Hope you get well soon!

Do you smoke? (not necessarily a question for the original poster) Smoking causes mush more heart damage than lung. If you smoke quit, now. My father smoked and died at 52. My uncle smoked and died at 52. You can tell all the stories you want about uncle Ed who smoked two packs a day and lived to 100 but there are many more like my father and uncle. Maybe if my father did not smoke he would have lived long enough to bounce his first grandchild on his knee.

My sister in law smoked heavily from her teens til just a couple of years ago in her late 50s when she was diagnosed with COPD. A couple of months ago she fell and hit her knee on a small rock, shattering her leg bones below the knee. Three surgeries and over 75 stitches later she may have problems for the rest of her life. She almost lost a foot over the damage.

There days later I had major surgery on my leg to repair damage from 40 years ago. She is still in a wheelchair and walker and I am walking without crutches. The doctor said that smoking does more damage to your bones than just about anything else.

If you smoke, stop. I stopped smoking when my now 41 year old son was 1, for him. I recently had some tests which included some tests on the heart and there is no problem there at all. I turn 67 in March. I am over weight but am working on that now.
