Getting my plow going 3! JD No 44

Thanks for all you guys's help over the last week!

Ive learned more about this plow in 72 hours than Ive know in the last 5 years. I took some more pictures close up and hope you can tell me some more information or help date the plow for me. Got the plow in the garage with the 60 - fitting it was no small feat! Soaking all the hardware in "PB Blaster" each day to prepare to take apart if necessary. Also started to shine the front moldboard some. Im still undecided whether to go to the "new" frog and bottom or try to plow with the bottoms I have.

Shares are definately "not sharp" there is about 3/16 of an "edge" Landside on bottom # 1 pretty bad, curved up towards the rear. As you can see in my previous pictures moldboard 1 is broken and welded. #2 landslide pretty good but share in worse shape. did find "JD" cast into both culters but they are different from each other.

"EP 312 EP 314 JD" part # on moldboard. "347 Solid" on the bottom of the share. Is this bottoms right for this plow considering the frame spacing (is it set for 16")? Still alittle confused on this subject.

I'd say that share is about perfect.Full cut,not too
much overlap.A share does not need to be "sharp",it
needs to have 'suck'.Too sharp/thin it can break if
it hits a rock.By the pic,the share looks to be in
good shape,good 'suck'.

Ive got a partial # on the #2 bottom landslide 79- then it disappears behind the frog. Anybody know the rest? If I do anything, I think #1 landside needs replaced

You can see the # 1 landslide the best from the top down picture, its about wore off/cut off even with the back edge of the frog also it curves up towards the rear. Is that landslide supposed to be different than the rear bottom? if its longer will it plug?

Only the rear landslide is long.All the ones in front of the rear are short.Question is,How thick are they?

No answers for you but a question. Where did you get the tire ofr the left front at? and what size is it ?

I was wondering where you are located. I have a nice set of slat bottom moldboards with the throw away lays that I want to get rid of.

I bought the plow with the new tires on it. The Left front is a "Galaxy" 6.00-16 6ply Super Tractor R-1.

The EP series of bottoms are very popular in competition plowing. The EP 314-316 moldboards are not being manufacture at this time.White Horse Machine & Equipment Gap Pa. 717-768-8313 ask for David,Henry or Melvin King, has the tooling for the 347 share call them & encourage them to build some shares

I like to lengthen the front Landslide on mine...it only will help the rear furrow slice to turn, will not contribute to plugging..
Rear of Landslide should be as thick as the front..Top and Bottom..
You can solidly "Tack" a new piece of 1/4" to 3/8" Steel to the rear half of the existing landslide and it will be fine..I leave it as Long as I think I can..4 to 5" longer on the front Landslide..
More Modern plows often had an optional "Landslide Extensions" that worked exactly the Same.. (AC.)..

According to Parts Catalog PC158, the 347 share is
a 14 inch.

The EP314 JD on your moldboard is a bit confusing
to figure out from the Parts Catalog. It lists it
as 10, 12, or 14 inch. Maybe you had to specify
which size you wanted when you bought the plow.
The catalog also lists the moldboards as Sod
Bottoms and the shares as Breaker shares for use
with Breaker Bottoms. But the drawings for Sod and Breaker bottoms shows them to very different in shape.

I belive that EP312 and EP314 bottoms both used the same moldboard. The diffrents is cut is a diffrent share.
