Found a 1954 Farmall 400 sn3005 with Z casting codes. Runs good no smoke, straight tin, fast hitch and ps. Needs rear skins though. What's a fair offer?

FH and PS add a ton Working TA adds 500. I'd go 3300 with working TA.

I paid $2500 for a 350 in about the same condition in 2011. (KS) I really doubt if I would have paid any more.

In my area you would only get 1600/1800. Your going to have 1500/1600 in tires for that tractor plus paint, plus repairs and I'm sure your going to have things to fix. Tires are the big thing, very expensive.

Just sold my 400 with no p/s good t/a and excellent tires with one set of weights for 2800.00. It had a few leaks but everything worked. I wanted 3200.00, but the guy really wanted it and I believe it went to a good home so I let him have it.
I got toooooo many as it is.

That is easily a $2500 tractor. Early serial number and all the goodies jack it up quite a bit. From the way you described it sounds pretty nice except the rears. If the rear tires are black and round you can use it as is for a while until you find a good used pair or a good buy on some new ones.
