I got a 7/8" deep socket from NAPA and have been using it for years. It is not an official spark plug socket but works fine.

I just use 7/8's 1/2 drive deep socket, then I don't need to use an extention. Just a piece of 5/8 heater hose to convert to spark plug socket placed inside to protect ceramic insulater |

I've run into some engines where a normal deep socket won't work - clearance is too tight, and outside wall of socket rubs on head or block. May need to find a thin wall socket. |

I have found that a 3/8 drive deep socket is thinner than a 1/2 drive thus fitting in tighter heads. I just use a regular deep socket without the rubber insert. |

A Craftsman 7/8 3/8ths drive deep well is a thin wall design and is the only socket that will work that i have found . |
