I Have a stock 1951 John Deere A that runs real strong. I currently run 15.5x38 harvest kings on 14" tin rims. I just don"t like these tires and want to try something different. Should I go 14" or 16" tires? If so do I change rims? Thoughts? |

Well, you could put 14.9-38's on those rims, they'll be about 2 inches higher than the 15.5's or 5-6 inches more circumference. And they have a slightly larger "footprint". This should "capture the horsepower" of your strong A in low gear...and make it a little faster too. You didn't say what weight(s) you pull at or what the tracks are like. You could put 16.9-38's on those rims too if you can't "hold" your A with the 14.9's. Some "really powerful" A's with that "slow low gear" I've seen can use big tires at light weights. |
