|

From looking at old pictures, I'm thinking IH use to apply them at the factory early on. I maybe guessing, but back in 1939 I'm thinking water slide decals were all that was available.
As a model airplane builder, I have a lot experience with water slide decals. So I'm no stranger to them. If I had a choice, I'd pick water slide decals. They lay so flat, a coat of clear would really seal them up good.
I've searched and searched, and I'm convinced that none are available anywhere. Why's that I wonder. Too expensive to make?
TIA
Patrick

I have a set of waterslides for an H, they came with my Farmall H when I brought it 10 years ago. They are genuine I-H 353125 R96, have you tried your local Case-Ih Dealer? Or maybe they don"t do them in waterslide anymore. I think my transfers were first purchased in the early 1980s. |

Supposedly one of the chemicals used in their making has been declared "hazardous" and is very hard to get.
I believe the peel and stick gained popularity as they are easier to install and remove. They can cost less to make too. |

About the closest thing you can get to the finish of a water transfer these days is cut vinyl decals. There's no big "window" of clear plastic around the lettering, and they can be buried in clear.
I used to do model rockets with water transfer decals, and half the time I ended up tearing the decals because they were so fragile. I can't imagine trying to float something as large as the FARMALL decal on to the hood of a tractor without tearing it several times. |
