Working on a late D....removed the flywheel (with cherry picker)got to wondering what that sucker weighs. Wife would not let me use the bathroom scales!

I learned quite some time ago not to use fancy items like that for my dirty old hobbies. I bought a platform "balance" scale at an auction. Guess who uses who's scale now. LOL

Weighed the flywheel on the "38 D handstart and it was 150 pounds if I remember right!

I seem to remember some old specs showing the rotating mass of a late D at 405#, this would include the flywheel, crankshaft, and clutch disc. I would guess around 150-200#, enough to be careful with it. A friend dropped an A flywheel on his foot. Several surgeries later he walks pretty well. Moral is--Be Careful!!
