I have NEVER seen a fuel gauge on a WD45. Have you got one on yours? Got a picture? |

I have one for mine. It was an aftermarket deal. Not sure who made it. Has a tube that goes to the bottom of the tank with a cork float. Works a lot like the gauge on a 500 gal fuel barrel if you've ever seen one of those.

I also have seen that aftermarket gauge used with Farmall H-M"s. Never could find out the maker either. |

My CA has a brass 90 deg elbow soldered on the tank right side, at the bottom, and another elbow soldered on the side, at the top of the tank. There is a piece of clear plastic tubing running between the two elbows, with graduated red marks on the tubing to show gas level. Home made for sure, but effective. |

We had one on the 1957 WD-45 that my father bought new from a dealer in St. Charles, Illinois. I drove the tractor a lot, and remember how the guage was built, but never saw one on another tractor. The guage was still on the tractor when it was sold at auction in the '70's. I did see a John Deere A or G with a similar guage, but it was made out of brass, with no glass parts. |

I have one on mine, but need to work on the "Glass"..I cannot read it any more..!
It is all metal..been on it as long as I can remember...it was my Grandad's tractor..
I could take some pictures...
Maybe there is a name on it somewhere...
Working it HARD, it needed gas every 4 hours or so..3 tanks a day..(36 Gal.) Sun-up to 11:00 PM...pulling 4x14" or an Int #37 Disc, with 12' JD Harrow (Duals when on the disc..).
