Help w/ rough date of Little Wonder single bottom

Little wonder or # 3 plow built 1940 to 1955. They used flat bars for the clutch wheels. Plowman

Would you all happen to know the orginal colors of this plow. I"m think blue beam with remainder red. But Im not really sure, Thanks.

#4 and #8 IH plows were basically same paint schemes. Hitch and coulter arms are black. Axles, hubs, lifting springs, back of moldboards and lifting mechanism parts are IH blue. Frame and rest of parts are IH red. Wheels are IH white.

IH #2150 red is used nowadays.

IH blue not available, but NAPA has #53-3736A for correct match and other brands can match it also. Ford blue is not the same.

IH 935 White is a cream color, close to same as on hoods of 560, 460, etc.

This site might have what you need and I know that Carter and Grueneveld (sp?) also has paints for plows...see their website; C & G IH dealer.

The thoughts on whether the lifting springs are blue or red seem to be a real mystery. I agree some pics of original plows show red, and then some Wi. Historical Society info mentions blue. I painted them blue on my #8 and blue they stay.

The IH 935 White is closest to what my memory tells me (dangerous assumption) they mostly looked like when I was young. I tried a couple other colors when I painted the wheels, but when I took them out in the sunlight they did not please me. The WHS once told me the IH archives for this color are lost and no real clue to follow.

You planning to attend the World Plowing Championships in Alberta next summer? I'd like to go but it's over 1400 miles...one way! I want to go to Ontario for their contest NE of Sarnia in Sept. Fun to talk with those fellows.

We are making plans for our April plowday, no date yet. Last yr had 45 acres, now we have 70.
With over 50 old tractors it doesn't take long to turn it all over.

It"s been a couple years since I saw the flat bars on the lift wheel, but as I recall they were the width of the wheel and about 1"-1 1/2" wide.

I do not think they were flat, but were bent U-shaped lengthwise so they had the 2 edges sticking up for more traction. But that shape could have been made by the plow owner thru the years....who knows what was done over so many years.

I also have seen a wheel with bolt heads sticking up for traction, with a nut on both sides of the wheel to lock them tight. I think that was an owner design.

I have a #4 on steel, but the left wheel axle is badly bent in; I think it might have been dropped off a truck as something violent had to happen to do that damage. I might take off the moldboard, the 2 handles, the hitch, the coulter, etc. and scrap the rest.

I looked at my #4 plow today; the lift wheel has round bolt heads for traction, the heads are at least 1 inch diameter. Possibility they are original, don"t know, but sure look like it.
Looking at your plow it looks like the rear wheel was just ripped off...I have a good one on my plow.
And my coulter is in good shape, turns freely.
Where do you live? I"m in Wisconsin. Maybe too far away for you to get my parts? I would not charge much for the parts you need.
I took a couple pics today, but most of it is covered in the 10 inches of snow we got this week. I can send the pics by email to you...I don"t now how to post them here. You would have to call me and give me your email. I"m at 608-524-1452.
