also wondering how the bevel gears get oiled? the line comes into the gov housingfrom the main case, but doesn't appear to reach the bevel gears! How does the oiling work for the gears and the ventilator pump.

One of those lines that's really hard to reach after your hands have cramped up under the governor housing. |

There is a drilled passage from the oil gauge port going straight forward that sprays oil onto the works in there. It's quite small but is dead center in the 'bottom' of the port, probe and clear it with a very fine long wire smaller than 1/16". Optionally some luck can be had by screwing the typical grease gun hose into the oil port and pumping it clear with high pressure grease.
Not sure about the ventilator pump as I don't have one on my 44 A.
