|
|
The first stage filter on my 401 has always been damp with diesel fuel since I got the tractor. Since then I have discovered that there is supposed to be a gasket, part number 21016, between the head and the canister. It is no longer available from Case. I was wondering what it is made of and what it looks like. Would a properly sized o-ring work?
Thanks,
Eli |

It it a flat round rubber matches the diameter of the canister maybe 1/16 or little less thick |

Nutty the filter I'm working on is the one below the injection pump. This one has the brass screen in it that you clean and reinstall. Because of that there unfortunately is no new gasket. I agree any filters I have bought came with a new gasket. |

eli ,any flat rubber seal that fits will work ,dont use cork , perhaps NAPA ... i am lucky to have a farmstore 2 miles away that carries EVERTHING,.in your situation i would take the canister in there and they would match it up /.the young owner is in his hi 70s , and does a super job, knows where everything is .and how to fix it .he could even mail you the seal if you have no luck rounding one up .. |

If you"ve got a Baldwin filter dealer handy, you might check with them. I think they have those types of seals listed by size in one of their catalogs although I can"t seem to find it online.
I"m virtually certain I picked one up from Case within the last 10 years, but they might no longer carry them as you say..... |
