I am looking at purchasing a 499 haybine. Are there certain things to look for? Are they good machines? Thanks |

Great machines. The shaft that runs behind and underneath the cutter bar has a bearing on it that gets neglected. Kind of out of sight out of mind I guess. Doesnt get greased. Seen one that one of the shafts that drives the rolls worked loose and stripped the splines. The bearings in the reel get sloppy. The main drive pump gets weak. That's all that comes to mind and all things that happened after thousands of acres of use. Like I said great machines. Really liked them. |

Wore my first one out and am on my second. Very good machine. Be sure to have a large enough tractor to pull it if you cut many hillsides or the side draft will push a smaller tractor around. |
