Anybody buying Agco?

Some of the former Oliver/White users have switched to New Holland around me. One guy (former AC user, big time) has two AgcoStar 4WD articulated and an AgcoAllis, in addition to his AC equipment.

There is no AGCO brand anymore. Massey-Ferguson and Challenger tractors are all they have for tractor brands now. Gleaner, Hesston and Sunflower still exist as brand names, but are slowly disappearing into MF and Challenger.

I'm pretty much exclusive to what I can get parts and service on from the Agco dealer. White,Oliver,Massey,Hesston,New Idea. They handle Gehl,Kuhn and Klibros too,so I have them as well.

I think in time it will be just massey ferguson for tractors, and they will drop the challenger name, because the Massey is suppose to be the number one selling tractor world wide. My opion anyways, also saying something when there starting to build them out of Jackson with the challenger and just really expanded so they could.

Agco is done in my area, used to be lot's of Allis, Gleaner stuff and fair amount of Oliver, White products,one small dealer with scant company support.But what can you expect,every company they aquire they can't wait to kill it. Just wait you Gleaner and challenger guys are next, and all the while John Deere and Case New Holland are laughing because Agco is eliminating their competition for them. And by the way I own Agco brands mostly White and Oliver.

I don't know who they are going to sell to when they have a dealer every 200 miles. For Olivers it's either make a 200 mile round trip road trip or order it and wait for UPS to deliver it.

Used to work for AGCO based out of Hesston, KS as a combine test engineer. Globally they are going to 4 brand names: Valtra, MF, Challenger, and Fendt. Eventually all others will be gone (scary i know) hesston was just phased out. AGCO is trying to follow the super dealer presidence that deere and CNH have gone to. however the problem with AGCO is the connection to the old CAT dealer network. for those of you who dont know the name challenger and all of the equipment went to AGCO except the Lexion combines which stayed with CLAAS. In the US they cannot put a dedicated AG dealer within 50 miles of a CAT dealer, THAT STILL SELLS AGCO TRACTORS. Cat dealers dislike all ag stuff except the track tractors (huge business) and carry nothing for parts. there are some exceptions to this dealer territory thing but every time i went to the field it seemed like the dealer was sooo far away.

so as far as anyone buying the AGCO company i would think that is not goin to happen at all. with the booming business overseas AGCO is growing in South America and China. the growth in the North American market is very difficult with Deere locking down market share on everything, but the Fendt and Challenger tractors are doing really well for AGCO. I could go on and on but this could take all night

I run a repair shop working primarily with Oliver/White equipment. I buy some parts from a long time Oliver dealer now MF, and Agco seems to be discontinuing Ol/WH/AC and older MF parts, even commonly replaced parts, at an alarming rate. If Agco does have it, boy you pay for it. I am starting to see alot of Agco guys replacing equipment with CIH & NH.

I saw lots of MF in Afghanistan. If they can sell there I would think they could sell anywhere. kwg

Its a bad deal here . We had one good local dealer and he decided to sell campers and lawn mowers insted of farm equipment or stock any parts. The other dealers in the area went new holland. I worked for a case IH dealer for years and farmed with olivers and whites, I even had an 8900 combine if thats not loyal I dont know what is! Now that I have my own shop everything here is IH or Deere. Im not bad mouthing agco but there are no parts to be had around here and who wants to wate for parts for two days in the middle of fall? And if you think deere or case ih is putting it to you on the price of parts start buying from agco or cat!

I live less than 100 yards from AGCO's largest US dealer and they move allot of stuff...mostly MF and Gleaner. Truck after truck in and out of here...tractors, combines, you name it. Around here, they move allot of tractors locally, but still CIH and JD have the market.

Ya there suppose to be number one selling world wide, say in ten years or so it will just be massey ferguson and no challenger. Because they don't even use the cat motor anymore its a sisu, owned by Massey and eleven there big ones don't have the cat, in time the 4wd and track tractors will be mf red.

We have been buying all our parts through AGCO. We are using Maibach Tractor out of Ohio. All of the parts we used to rebuild my 1955, and my 1600 were agco, most of the spare parts for my 525 are are Agco, even some of our plow parts and other odds and ends are agco. Most of them are even still made in the USA. It is one day shipping to our front door if they have it in stock, and most of the time the prices are right in line, or even cheaper than most other places. Especially on belts and bearings, they are a lot cheaper and it is the same quality we were getting out of the bearing warehouse we were using. I guess you guys either have dealers that are price gouging, or dont want to deal with this old stuff. We have yet to run into something they dont make. Agco even still makes the rubber isolator mount for the hydraulic pumps on the 525-35-45. I figured I was gonna have to make one and Maiback had 6 new ones in stock. AGCO has been pretty good to us over the last 2 years.

I think it's kind of a regional thing. In certain parts of the country,mostly hilly cattle country,Deere and IH never really had a presence. They made primarily row crop tractors where the market called for low utility type tractors. Ferguson and Ford had the lions share of the market. It's still that way in those areas,New Holland and Massey rules the market. I don't really see that changing much. Deere and CaseIH have made their choice when it comes to who they're going to serve,the big time cash croppers who trade for new every few years and only need maintenance parts. Look at what Massey is really pushing right now in their advertising,the new 3 cylinder 5600 series tractors and Hesston by Massey hay tools.
If Agco has given up in some of the markets that they never really had a majority of the market in,Deere has done the same thing. Seems like all of these companies have made a decision as to who they're going to concentrate on serving.
