I made a puller for pulling sleeves from my Oliver. I bought a fine thread 7/8 bolt, Then just put holes through two stout pieces of steel and started tightening. You need a lot of pull and thus heavy stock to break them loose, Then you can switch over to a lighter piece for underneath, that will just clear the bore. On top you can add spacers under your heavy piece as it comes up and out. You don't need fancy. |

I have found that on bolts of the same size that find threads seam to strip quicker than coarse threads.

Did the same thing; only problem is, I could probably make a new one quicker than I could find the old one. |

If you're handy with metal you can make a puller like Keith made for his Super C. He made a puck that was machined .010-.015" undersize to fit the inside bore of the sleeve and enough clearance to clear the block bore. Hal

I've got a Snap-On sleeve puller, that has about
8 sizes of puller pucks. It cost over $200, in the
late 1970's,and is probably over $500 now. For me,
it has pulled hundreds of sleeve, and was worth
the investment.
My worthless grandsons wouldn't even know what it
is and would probably pawn it for $25, and buy
video games, when I pass! |

For wet sleeves I have the OTC 1205 puller. It is not cheap at $500+ but well worth it if you're in the business. |

I've not been into a diesel before but I've heard folks talk about welding vertical strips up the sleeves so they just lift them out after they cool. |
