Left at 4:00am. just got home from Kalona. Seen lots of yearlings bring $1000-$1400 and most good Teams$3000 and up.Looks like the Draft market is back strong.Riding horses were cheap some no sales. Came home with nothing but had a million dollars of fun today what a cool sale.

Are those prices enough to justify raising horses versus raising cattle? Seems to me it would be more expensive to raise horses than cattle?

Those horses that didn't sell - sounds like the Burger King buyer missed an opportunity.

An interesting horse pull. I had not seen it done this way.

When ever I've seen them pull they did it like the tractors. Everyone pulls then they add the weight. I like you have never seen it done like the video shows. 10,000# is still allot of weight for them to move.

Dad sold his team and bought an Allis B by the time I was old enuf to work on the farm so I don't know much about horses.
He and other old timers used to speak very proudly of their horses and their individual personalities.
Altho later on farmers talked proudly about their tractors and what they could do I don't think things were ever quite the same.
These beautiful pulling horses appear to really like what they are doing and seem to be the perfect examples of "chomping at the bit".
