Quick question...... What"s the difference in the blocks on a 44 gas and a 44 diesel? I don"t have two I can put side by side and compare. The best I can tell is they are the same except the distributor is plugged off on the diesel. I have a diesel but it"s block is cracked outside at the top in the water jacket. I can get a bare gas block close by, but not a diesel. I have found a diesel but it and shipping is big $$$$$! Would it be possible to strip the diesel and reinstall all the components ( crank, cam etc) in the gas block?
Thanks for any help! |

Gas block has smaller starter bolts, maybe smaller pilot hole too. Think early gas and diesel had smaller main studs, need to check the parts books again. I have a diesel parts tractor, not sure if block is good though. |
