I have heard stories on the importance of a good transmission pump. I have heard its only purpose is to stuff the main pump, so pressure delivered is not that important.
What do you think. |

FLOW would be the issue, at low pressure. It lubes the tranny and ring and pinion and bearings, as well as feeding the main hyd pump. |

Provides pressure for pto clutch and brake. Oil for brakes. Pumps oil up to the cooler . |

4020 brakes hyd oil is supplied by main hyd pump. This was one of the hydraulic advantages of rowcrop over utility tractors. 4020's prior to 1969 had manual operated pto clutch & pto brake. PTO clutch/brake on syncro-range after SN was supplied by main hyd pump
