hello i am asking for my cousin he wants to buy this tractor says tires are fair it has an older front end loader with trip bucket but the clutche is out gas motor runs everything else works fine he thinks he can get it for 500 dollarstell me what you guys think i myself am a case guy so normaly not on this forum but would appreciat the help |

Tell him to buy it. The loader may be junk, but that model is well worth fixing. Only 'iffy' thing, if by 'clutch' they mean the multipower tranny, that will be a job, but still a great tractor. |

I'd agree with Tony. The 65's are generally fairly bullet-proof, but the multi-power can be a "can of worms", especially if the pump is US.
The other area worth checking is the final drives. These are hard to get parts for now, (in Australia anyway), so go out and "rock" the rear wheels from side to side. Hear any play??
Check that the final drive compartments still have oil in them, for a dry final drive can be mega-bucks. Even drain off the first few cc's of oil from each side, and check for metal contamination. Even at $500 it's still scrap value.
