Here's something I have never seen... Cyrus McCormick Nor John Deere driving their own tractors....!!!!!!! At least old Harry could drive what he expected us to use.....
Harry ploughing with a Ferguson-Brown Type A
Driving down the steps of Claridges Hotel in London after a display
In his racing car outside his car dealership.. May Street Motors, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
On his personal tractor at home in Abottswood
Ferguson Type A tractors leaving the David Brown factory on semis
Driving the 200,00th tractor off the Banner Lane assembley line with Sir John Black, the owner of the Standard Motor Company....Note the grey paint over-spray on the tyres!!!
Driving TO No.1 off the line in Detroit
A young Harry in an early race car.
He even had to teach Henry Ford how to drive!!!!

That settles it! From now on, rustoleum on the tires will be the norm. Imagine teaching Henry Ford how to drive. Like teaching the pope how to pray! Harry was cheeky fellow.... |

Nice, but a bit dissappointing... i thought the new Pope would drive a 4WD SAME with metalic blue tin, dayglow orange wheels, florecent holigram racing stripe.... oh well, I guess like the queen, a position that high up the ladder keeps ya getting too loud and trendy.... |

Probably the main reason that John Deere or Cyrus Mccormick never drove a tractor was because they had passed on before tractors were ever invented. |

Harry was a "hands on" kind of fellow. I have always felt that men like that garner more respect than those who are "too good to get their hands dirty". I know I have more respect for them. Thanks for the photos. |

Believe it or not, I have a plow that looks very similar to the one in the first picture. The beams, the brackets for the center link, etc. I always thought it was a Dearborn, but now I'm not sure. Unfortunately, there is no ID tag on it. |

My point, exactly! But at least we can have a bit of fun with the other camps....It is one of the many things that Ferguson was able to do better!

I bet Harry was quickly trying to envision an IVT transmission for Henry so the next year they wouldn't have to teach Henry to use the clutch! Too bad they split up or the IVT would be old news and we would be running fusion transmissions. |
