|
|
I am working on an early 630 diesel, which has the thermostat in the upper rad hose and also has a thermostat by-pass tube. I cannot get the large square cut grommet seals for the by-pass tube from Case any longer, and am wondering if anyone has any ideas where to locate these other than Case. I believe the part number is/was 222-29. Thank you. |

If you are talking about the connection between the timing cover and the thermo housing, a short big pipe with an oring groove in the end I could be corrected but that is a much later engine or timing cover setup than the 630 came standard with. In any case, the part number that you give does not sound like a Case number as most start with a G or A. The Case parts site is down and advises you to see a dealer right now so I can't look it up. |

Mel,
I was thinking the same thing. The only bypass that I was aware of was the hollow 7/16 capscrew behind the water pump. What he was refering to sounded like the lifesaver sized rubber seal on a DB tractors. I am not familiar with what they did on the 207s.
PS I got a kick out of your E-mail about Obammy's big day.

Take a look at this site, it may help. I am betting the 222 is the manufacturer's size code and 29 is a material.

This tube can be viewed on the online parts lookup on page 34, in the sub-box on the top right of the picture. I believe the whole assembly (tube, seals, nuts, nipples) is part #A36018. This is a very similar tubing design as the fuel lines on this unit, just in a larger size. The nuts have "imperial flex" stamped on them. The tube size is 1/2" and the nipple the nut threads on is 13/16". Any help would be appreciated. I will attempt to download some photos as well. Thank you. |

It looks like it may have been a field installed kit, as there are no bosses for the fittings to screw into, and the fittings don't look exactly straight in the castings. We had problems with the first 630s and got a service bulletin telling us to drill a hole length ways in the capscrew behind the water pump, that screws into the head. I have never seen a pipe like that on a 188.

It is quite possible that it is an update. I do not think it was fabricated by the average farmer, it just looks too good for that. If anyone knows of a service bulletin or product update, I would sure like to know more. Thanks again. Also, not sure why pictures uploaded twice...lol. |
