I need info to find the right manual..I know naa and 4000/5000/7000 blue tractors very well,I have not done a 901sos. Where would the ID numbers be? any hints to get the right manual and buy would be helpful.

The tractor model serial numbers are on the bell housing just aft of the starter.
If a 9xx S-O-S it will be a 971 or, less likely, a 981.

Ford tractor shop manual for tractors 55-60 unless the transmission has been updated (look at casting numbers aft of inching pedal. 312259 is original) If it's been updated you'll also need the Select-0-Speed supplement manual.
Most likely cause of failure without more info is a failed torque limiting clutch and/or input shaft splines. (front split) |

Many early SOS tractors like my '59 had their transmissions swapped out with the later one. many of these (like mine) have no seial number. So if you can't find the serial number you need to go by the casting number on the side of the transmission. |
