at first the lift was jerky so, i took the top cover off and replaced orings and cleaned valves.i did step by step with the video like i have done several times before.now it goes up no matter about the control lever.the control lever has no control.when i turn the engine off the lift freely moves up and down by hand.any suggestions.im new at these post and i did another similar post a few minutes ago not sure if it went through.

You say it goes up regardless of touch control lever position, but will it lift a load or just the empty arms? Since it sounds like it is up when you stop the engine, does it go down on its own? Quickly?

when the engine is off no pressure on arms at all i can move up and down with just my hand.time i crank it the lift comes up no matter about the touch lever and acts like it wants to keep going up even though its all the way up.its got to be something simple i done wrong when i was first in it.

I would say your control rod isn't adjusted properly. If it were, when the hyd piston started coming out too far, it would stop the upward motionn not act like it still wants to go up.
Get a manual and put it back in adjustment. It took me 4 times removing the lift cover to figure out how to get it right. My linkage was worn so much, it was difficult to get it close to working properly. So I came up with my own way of ajusting it, moving my lift arms and making sure the control rod was 1/4 inch out before my lift arms were all the way up.
Buy many spare lift cover gaskets.

it does seem like it is adjustment and i will move it around in the morning.i just dont understand how it worked okay until i pulled the cover off.it went up and down fine just a little jerky.i dont have a manuel handy and need to get it working tomorrow.now it does have any pressure at all when i turn it off.

I will repeat my questions one more time.

it will easily lift me 220lbs im unable to hook anything to it right now but, it seems to be strong.when i turn it off it goes down very quickly i did have a small leak around the gasket.i know the leak is a problem but its easily fixed i just dont understand why it has no control

If you don't have a shop manual, I think you better take the lift cover to someone who knows how to adjust the linkage. I have a minor problem with my NAA hydraulic control, I bought the manual, and I have been studying the mechanism for months before I attempt to tinker with it. General knowledge of how to repair mechanical things is not enough to be successful in this case. Knowledge and experience are the only solution to your problem and it sounds like you need to get help to correct it.

Bill,
The linkage on my Jubilee is so slopy, worn, that the next time I take it apart, I'm going to ream out the piviot points and make a bushing to fit. Try to make the round places round again.
I also made a 1/2 inch drift pin to help bring my adjustments close enough to work.
Face it, 60 years of wear and rust created by no vent in case, takes it toll.
I also had to rebuilt my pump and installed a pressure guage. It's possible there are more than adjustment problems here.

The fact that it goes down very quickly when engine is turned off could mean that control valve is in the 'dump' position (perhaps a linkage adjustment problem). It could also mean that there is a leak at lift cylinder or in oil path to same. Other possibilities are that backpressure valve is not relieving, thus keeping high pressure applied at all times & under these conditions, IF the dump path flows less than supply path the lift would rise regardless of control position............this is why I asked about weight being lifted (under such circumstances it might lift something, but not 900#). Some people can tell by sound of pump & sound of engine load, whether or not the pump is working hard (high pressure) all the time or only some of the time. It should be only some of the time.....another indication of backpressure not relieving. Unloader valve stuck in raising position would act same as backpressure not relieving. Eventually you will have to take apart & verify that all valves are free to move, correctly installed, and linkage is set correctly.
