|
|
Hey all,
Looking at buying a 2-105, and I was just wondering what size of implements it would be able to handle (disc, cultivator, moldboard plow). We are in heavy clay loam here so I think a 15 foot disc, 20 foot cultivator, and 4-16 plow would be more than enough for it to handle. Thoughts?
Thanks for any help! |

That sounds about right, I have 5X16 on mine and wish for 4 in some sod fields. |

I'd say you're right about in the ballpark. It's not a new tractor anymore. |

I used to farm with an Oliver 1950T, about the same HP and it pulled a 7 shank Glencoe soil saver and a IH 690 18' disc with no problems.
Was told by an an old mechanic/farmer that the best way to tell if what yo're pulling is too much is to advance the throttle. If it just pours out more black smoke, but the rpm's and speed don't go up, you have too much behind you. |

Well In my soils I run those Implements on my 1850 Oliver but
the disc I use is a white 252 18ft with 7.5 inch spacing I think
you got the right size implements but I think you could handle
5-16plow or a disc 15-18ft depending on how heavy the disc
is. |

I find in our soils I generally need to take 1/3 of the size off of any implement based on what others say it will handle. We are on heavy clay loam, although it is very well tiled. Had a 115 horsepower Case in front of the 4-16 this fall and in several spots it was all the tractor could handle. Plow was adjusted properly.
Thanks for the help guys, I will probably see if I can borrow some implements from neighbours first just to see what the 2-105 will handle, don't want to invest in implements I can't pull |
