Does anyone know how IHC put the king pin into the wheel spindle ? When I look at the joint, I can see where the wheel spindle has be machined for the king pin and there is a center in the end of the king pin. There are no welds that I can see.
I realize that the assembly was not made to be serviced. However; my wheel spindle is fine but the king pin has been welded on, ground, and mutilated and I would like to try and replace it.
There are replacement assemblies available but I would like to explore rebuilding what I have.
Thank You for any help you may be able to offer.

I believe they are a shrink/press fit, I removed one one time and had to heat the spindle and use a hydraulic press to remove it then had a new king pin made and frooze it ,heated the spindle and pressed it back in once cooled had machine shop cut new keyway in correct location

Yes, it is a TIGHT interference fit. Probably done at the factory with a combination of heating the kingpin and freezing the spindle.
