The B's are not as desirable as the C's and newer. Transmissions are a PITA to work on,weak ring and pinion, never seen one that had any brakes. 5 grand max in my part of the country. |

here a 580B will start at 5000 and level off around 8000 or so, not a thing wrong with the brakes( in my opinion ) they do wear out and have to replaced we sold hundered's of them from 71-76, only time I seen ring gear problems was if they were abused and I have changed just as many in "C" and later machines the "B" and prior do have to be split to access the power shuttle but again they last many thousands of hours if serived and run properly, I still use mine almost every day |

After a little poking around , I learned that c,d etc are better and easier to work on. You guys are dead on with the price , because the owner wants $6000.00 but 5 will probably buy it.
Thanks guys much appreciated |

You said it correctly, Abused. I never saw a contractor that didn't abuse one. We have a lot of steep ,hilly rough terrain in my area and you would not believe the places I have seen these guys put a 2WD machine.I guess that's the reason I have replaced so many brakes and ring and pinions. On another note, a friend of mine bought a very nice C the other day for $6000. It's in my shop now for a brake job too.LOL |

I have heard from a few people that one of the 580 models was known for tranny problems. |
