I often wondered how a person could break a front bolster. Now I know..... Might get some pics tomorrow when I knock the loader off it.

Long story short I need a used bolster for a 1991 3930 MFWD, ag chassis. NH part # 82003154
I've tried my usual sources although I'm still looking at more.... Not keen to drop 2900 on a new one. Probably start laying brass tomorrow afternoon if I don't hear of one available on the east coast...
Thanks,

Rod

Did you try MacFaddens in Sharon Springs NY? I replaced one on my 5600 a couple of years ago after welding it twice from previous damage. I lucked out on a used one, the new one for that tractor was listed at $2,100.

I haven't... but Fawcett's are doing a search for one anyway on hotline or whatever...
Looks like it's going to get a pile of brass and some steel plating.

Ok Rod.
So just how DO you break a bolster - aside from doing high jumps with the tractor.
You mentioned posting some photos. I for one would like to see them.
Did you try All States?

This one, by appearances has been fractured about half way through for quite some time. I was pushing frozen snow banks back yesterday... and I don't remember if it happened when I heaved a good size frozen lump or when the front end dropped in the ditch and I was rocking around trying to get out... The nature of how a 7410 loader is mounted... it can give a pretty good snap upwards on the front of the bolster when the loader really takes a push.
This one... I believe is now going to get full framed from arse to teakettle. THe bolster is actually not all that strong in the middle where it needs to be strong for that loader setup.

At this point I've only searched locally and with Fawcett's who are also doing a N/A wide search for me... but I've more or less made up my mind to braze it anyway. Just because I can...
I'll take some pics when I get it torn down. Right now I've got to chain up my skid loader as we've got another mess coming.

Back in the mid 80s my old cousin left his NF Allis 'C' parked on a slope out of gear.
Tractor rolled down the hill and hit a stump. Broke the pedestal off of it.
He took it apart and I veed it out good and brazed it back up for him.
A little grinding/sanding, some Orange paint and you could hardly see the repair.
Tractor is still running.
Old cousin is gone but his son has it now. Son didn't know it had been repaired till I showed it to him a couple of years ago.

Not the first i've seen or heard of........ A&I has a couple of repop part numbers and we have installed one or two. not sure if they apply to a 3930 though.
You just figured out why the yellow Fords have a cast iron oil pan and 6 bolts between the pan & bolster.

My friend's son in law, who grew up across the street from me, broke one on his FWA 1566 last year. My friend enjoys razzing his SIL about breaking things, so maybe it is a talent.

That's different from what I've seen. Down here they break diagonally right in front of the rear mounts.
