    Jim L is right. Don't take it to a tractor mechanic. Take it to an auto electrical shop. Most every town of any size has one.

    Looking at a TO-20

    Cracks were usually from running too hot (no temp gage or broken gage). Biggest quirk is oil filter is inside the pan, which is hassel.

    TO20/TO30 general questions

    Napa 1010 Gold fits the original canister filter on the TO30. The 30 is stronger than the N. If your fluid is good, don't mess with it. The mineral oil (GL-1) works well if you let it warm up for a few minutes and less likely to leak onto seals. Takes 6 gallons. Expensive and messy to change.

    Battery Size

    I put a napa group 34 battery in my 12 volt TO30. Fits perfectly. About 800 cca, 660 ca. Plenty strong.

    Allis CA

    I have a CA with the 3 point hitch added on. I use it for mowing with 6 foot mower. Tricycle front lets it turn real short, almost like zero turn. Oil filter is hard to find and very expensive ($18 at NAPA), but otherwise it's been great.

    A drip out of carb is not enough to get it running. It should pour out like man peeing. You must trace back up from carb to tank to see where the problem is. Could be in carb, or a filter, or the line, or the sediment bowl, or the tank. Disconnect one at a time and check. My guess is carb...

    Appears to be a 1951 TO-20, by serial number. Engine should have casting number beginning Z120. Oil filter inside pan. The 30 would have an external oil filter and Z129 engine. Hope that helps. Enjoy.
