    MF 245 Radiator Repair

I ordered an aftermarket replacement. The old rad was too far gone for me to solder. Would have preferred a real copper recore but this is a yard tractor that rarely works hard. Kind of hard to justify paying almost 4 X as much for the recore.

    MF 245 Radiator Repair

Well, C$1,400, (~$1,000 US) for a re-core. Guess I'll try a little soldering on the weekend.

    MF 245 Radiator Repair

The rad on my 245 is a little beat up and leaking. Thought that since it is out it might be a good time to have it re-cored. Anybody had a small rad like that re-cored lately? What cost? Thanks, JP.

    Putting 175 back together

Alignment of the friction disks to the pilot bearing hole; we have had better luck doing by eye. Sometimes have to angle the front and/or rear halves of the tractor up and down a little. This input shafts do sag a little so sometimes can get them to catch by going up and down a little with...

    175 clutch again, adjustment tool

We, like ptfarmer, use the Big Dean method. No tool needed, we've never had a problem. JP. P.S.: Oops, changed reference to ptfarmer. JP. This post was edited by jogl on 09/12/2023 at 02:40 am.

Help with moving wheels to 40 row spacing on massey 35 d

I think that we tried, a few decades back, to get a 35 to 80" centres and could not. Our MF 175's are set at 80", and it is almost as far as they will go.

2705 24 speed input cover question

Did you do the air test before you put the assembly back in the tractor? You should be able to hear / feel all of the actuators work with minimal air leakage. We put one back together once and put a piece in backwards that made the ring gear assembly (with the input spline on it) stick out...

    Case 2590

Its good to be able to do a flow test, but just doing the pressure test is simpler and will tell you which clutch is leaking, if it is a leaking clutch, which from your description it likely is.

    Massey 2675 fuel problems

If that hollow bolt was leaking there should be fuel coming out there when running. Starting to sound like you may have something in your fuel tank that is causing intermittent blockages. We had to take the tank off of our 2705 to clean it out. Symptoms were the same as you are seeing.

    Massey 175 flywheel question

I don't think that it matters much. If you can put it back the same that's good. But we've replaced flywheels and cranks and, obviously, when you put in a replacement it is not going back together "the same". Never had a problem. Take a close look at the crank flange and the mating...

    135 diesel stopped running

It is possible but often the other way around. When lift pump is failing (or a fuel line or filter restriction, etc.) IP will draw enough fuel at idle, but lose power when worked harder. This post was edited by jogl on 06/21/2023 at 03:04 pm.

    135 diesel stopped running

There should NOT be bubbles in the sediment bowl. I would do a little more investigating / experimenting before I condemned the lift pump. The fuel tank is above everything else so if there is a leak allowing air into the system then when the tractor is not running one would expect fuel to...

    135 diesel stopped running

Is there white smoke when you try to start it with the starter? Is there fuel coming out when you crack the lines at the injectors and turn it over with the starter? Is there lots of fuel coming out of the injection pump bleed screws when you manually work the lift pump? This post was...

    Parts interchange? Massey 175

The 175's are a good solid old work horse for guy's that need small - medium row crop tractors (like me). Engine (the 236), clutch, tranny, hydraulics, and most of the rest are simple and fairly easy to repair. The weakest link is the steering, but that can be maintained with a little effort...

    Parts interchange? Massey 175

No. Go to the agco online parts manuals and find the part numbers you need and then do some searching around. Good Luck, JP.

    175 fly wheel

Only useful info in the A&I is 75 ft-lb for flywheel to crank torque.

    175 fly wheel

Pretty sure torque for fly wheel to crank is about standard for grade 8 1/2-20. I will check the A&I manual that I have next time I'm in the shop.

    175 fly wheel

We just had a fly wheel machined for a 175. The clutch (and the tractor) had been badly abused before we bought it. How that clutch was still working (somewhat) I don't know. There was no friction on one side and very little on the other. The pressure plate was gouged (as was the flywheel)...

    T O - 35

Go to the online agco parts books to look for part numbers. There will likely be a few variations so look carefully to match up with what you have. It will take some patience as the parts books pages are a little difficult to navigate through, but once you have some practice you will be ok...

    4.236 Perkins engine

If I were going to go one step at a time (and I usually do) I would do the head first. You get a fresh head and a look into the bores without too much effort or expense. I have had oil getting into the cylinders by running down the valve stem (due to valve stem seals that had either turned to...
