    Gear grinding new clutch

I don’t have hardly any pedal free play. That is one last adjustment I need to make, didn’t think that would / could have that impact. I will make that adjust tomorrow. I know this should be an inch or so of free play.

    Gear grinding new clutch

Hi guys. I just completed a clutch replacement on a Farmall Super A. Replaced clutch, pilot bushing, throw out bearing and new bearing carrier (replaced original graphite bearing). Initially the clutch rod and yoke were making contact with clutch finger adjust screws when fully depressing...

Tool to press on crankshaft pulley for Super A

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I am now leaning to threaded rod method. It is definitely logistically easier. Also, pre-heat of pulley to 250 degrees will also help.

Tool to press on crankshaft pulley for Super A

. Yes, it is threaded so that is my plan B. If I can figure out logistics for pressing on though I would go that route.

Tool to press on crankshaft pulley for Super A

I am getting close to reassembling the front end of my Super A and need to press the crankshaft pulley back on. For removal I fabricated up a plate to go behind pulley and pulled off with a hydraulic jack. I have read several posts about pressing back on. In one post gene bender described a...

Wire on governor cover A and super A

I'm replacing front seal and cleaning up and painting front end of my Super A. I have the governor cover off and am getting ready to degrease and paint it. On the governor cover for my Super A and also on my A, there is a thin braided wire that runs through a hole in the head of one of the...

Procedure to oil Super A fan hub

I am rebuilding my Super A fan assembly and just want to confirm the proper procedure to oil the assembly. From what I have seen in a couple posts you fill up with the fill screw at top position. Is this correct and do you just fill till oil flows out? Then I saw that you rotate until the fill...

Farmall A - Is this Steering Arm bent?

Hi Guys, I'm restoring a Farmall A. Now that I've got the steering assembly apart I'm looking at the Steering Arm and I can't tell if it is bent (see pic - section where the Tie Rods connect). Is it supposed to be this way due to the tractor offset. Can anyone with an A or familiarity with...

    Question on A steering knuckle

On each of my A steering knuckles there is an opening on the back side opposite where the spindle comes out. It almost looks like a grease fitting should be there but the hole is not threaded. Can anyone advise about this? Thanks.

    Farmall A front axle removal

Thanks JR. Now I see what bolts your referring to, which clearly aren't on my axle pin. Which makes me think....especially since it is loaded, with repair welds....that the pin might not even be proper. And makes me me think even more next step is the hammer. Since I'm replacing the axle I'm...

    Farmall A front axle removal

Thanks for the feedback guys. I attached a pic. I don.t see any bolts. But there has definitely been some custom fabrication that you can see in the pics. I have a replacement axle. I am holding off on the sledge hammer till you guys weigh in again!

    Farmall A front axle removal

Well, I hope this ain't the dumbest question ever asked... I'm pulling the front axle on a farmall a. There is an offset pivot shaft with a pin where the steering unit/gear box mounts. I can see anything that secures the pin in place, no nuts, etc. The end is very banged up like it has been...

    Farmall a torque tube removal

I am getting ready to pull the torque tube from my a. I have the engine block removed. After I get the clutch linkages and pedals etc. removed, will the tube just disconnect after removing the bolt teaching to the transmission? Is there any special removal process I need to consider? Also,a...

Farmall A block DG versus DH cast

I have a 1946 farmall a with block cast 6342-DH. After removing the cylinder head during restoration I've discovered that the block has a large internal crack so I am looking to replace the block. I have seen one listed with casting 6342-DG. Does anyone know if these blocks are interchangable...
