    american motors corp.

Wikipedia explains it pretty well. A long story. In the end, Lee Iacocca only wanted the name Jeep, the big new plant in Canada, and 1300 dealerships.

    Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of you Allis Chalmers guys. I was raised driving a 1936 WC and then we bought a new WD just like this one in 1949. It's still cutting grass over at the neighbor's place.

    Quality Farm Supply?

I can get almost anything for less from JD than CIH. I just proved that when I bought a new JD tractor in September.

HP requirements for a brush hog

Yes, some of those saplings were over 20' tall. I've done hundreds of miles of roadside cutting and lots of fence line cutting by backing into substantial brush thickets. Only real damage occurred when some brush branches took out the tail light assembly on the tractor. That cost me about $100...

HP requirements for a brush hog

Here are some pics of a 62 PTO HP tractor (Kubota M6800) running a 6' Land Pride RC. No power problems here but in cutting heavy 5' high grass the tractor's low gear was too fast to keep the mower from clogging and slipping the mower's clutch. Just took a half swath to keep that from happening...

    Strange phenomena

Once in a great while, here in Central Siberia, maybe every 10 years or so, I will see guys driving around towing bass boats during the first week of December. But by February all the lakes have several feet of ice.

    OT F-150

On my 2019 Toyota Sequoia there is a slot on the transmission shifter cover that is for inserting a screwdriver to solve the exact problem you're having. It's all covered in the owner's manual which I only glanced at and have never experienced the problem. Have no idea whether Ford is similar or...

    Thinking About A New Tractor

John Deere dealer in Marietta, Ohio has a brand new one with 4 hours on it and a LOADER advertised for $28799. That loader lists for around $6000. That would bring the price of the bare tractor in at somewhere around $23000. Still too much for me but you might check with them to see if they'll...

    Monster Crawler

At least some of those dozers were used. Here's one, and there only was one built, that reportedly is the largest ever built. It has never been used and has never left the town in Italy where it was built for construction in Libya that never happened. It is being used as an educational display.

Another thing a WD is handy for

Absolutely nothing wrong with what you're doing as long as you know what you're doing. Some of these old ladies obviously do not have a clue as to how a WD operates.

Totally lost on a good hand held posthole Auger...

After reading all of the posts I have come to the conclusion that none of you know anything about building fences. We built fences on our dairy farm for over 100 years and never thought a thing about it! This is a total waste of time. And some of you complain about the younger generation. It...

Totally lost on a good hand held posthole Auger...

Why not use steel line posts and heavy cedar end posts? Have no idea what kind of fence you're putting in as you haven't explained. We put in miles-----MILES---- of fence this way. For the big swamp cedar end posts you use an old fashioned post hole digger, available to this day in any hardware...

    Magnetic oil pan heater question

Many engines do not have a flat spot big enough to accommodate one. Even larger engines. An engine coolant heater is a much better option anyway. For starting that is, which is what I'm assuming you're looking for.
