    John that is interesting, I looked into getting a Class A license, and in Pa you have to go to driving school, the cheapest I could find was $800 and the normal price was closer to $4,000.

    Your best bet is to try a different tractor, the early 88s typically had a ring gear that would go about that fast in 1st gear, changing the ring gear is a major project.

    Follow up 2 I installed the Desno Alternator and to my surprise the amp meter showed negative with the engine running and the alternator supplying 14.5 volts. So, I shut off the tractor and turned the key to run position and it showed positive. It appears that the amp meter is wired backwards...
