    Little 411 B has a mystery tube ..

The rod is attached to a shift yoke inside the housing that is used to disengage the independent PTO unit from the drive shaft if the PTO is not going to be used for a prolonged period of time. Pushed all the way in disconnects, out engages. The small set screw on the end of the rod is helpful...

    Case 4-16 maybe?

The plow is a Case ST-44 or ST-46. I have one just like it. The S stands for semi-mount, the T for trip bottom. The 44 or 46 signifies 4-bottom and either 14 or 16 inch bottoms. It was also built in a 5-bottom model.

    800 Case Instruments

You will have to replace the temperature gauge in the cluster and cable all the way to the engine as one unit. The most knowledgeable fellow who works on the clusters is Joe DeMaio in Vineland NJ (856) 297-0644. Its not inexpensive but Joe does a beautiful job.

    Rim Size for 16.9 x 34 Tires

You could use either a 14 or 15 inch wide rim with a 16.9x34 tire. I think most folks would use a 15 inch rim. Thats what I run on my Case700 standard with 16.9x30 tires. Tractor pullers might go with a 16 inch width, but for a restoration job, I would stick with 15s.

    611-b Case-O-Matic radiator

A grand for a re-core is ridiculous. The radiator on my 511B went bad last fall and I called around the country looking for a used or rebuilt one and struck out. My local radiator shop re-cored my existing one for $450 and did a beautiful job.

    611-b Case-O-Matic radiator

Nedd is right, the parts books for the 400B and 600B both show the same numbers for the radiators, G45134 and G45180, depending on whether a 58 or 59 model, so that would broaden your search.

    Will the WFE from a 400B or 430 fit a 500B?

The 411B and 511B have different part numbers for most major components of their respective wide front ends including the yokes and spindles. I'd do some careful measuring before I started tearing anything apart. The 311B and 411B use a different yoke and the 511B and 611B also have a different...

More on J.I. Case in Minneapolis

Jon's good detective work on the J.I. Case Implement Company jogged my memory about the Case branch in Minneapolis. My older brother worked in the parts department there for a short time in 1959 before it was moved to Eagan Township south of St. Paul and he went to work for the Case dealer...
