    Ford 8n

Seriously, to Jim's point: Last year I installed a cheapy set of points in our 2N After running it a very short time it started missing under load but would idle. It got worse rapidly and I barely made it back to the barn with it missing and trying to die. Because I had just made a repair, that...

    Ford 8n

Any time using choke clears a run ability problem it is one of two causes: 1) Insufficient fuel to the carb, OR insufficient fuel through the carb circuit. 2) An air leak. A leak at the manifold to block, manifold to carb, or severely worn throttle shaft. Adding choke indicates a severe lean...

Thankfully, we live in the USA. I can have as many as I choose. Remember the old Lays potato chip commercial, "I'll bet you can't eat just one!" ?

    1948 8n 6volt coil problem

Your tractor has worked just fine for 77 years at 6 volts. It will not start or run better if you make the 12 volt mistake. You have one tiny little problem that you will soon find and remedy. There is no reason to fire off the 12 volt parts cannon. Continue on and you will be better next time...

    1948 8n 6volt coil problem

"Bout to pull out my hair Tanks" Don't do that. It won't help. If you run a wire from the negative side of the coil and the problem persists, you have localized the problem to the distributer. After eliminating the condenser as the problem; something is opening the circuit due to heat...

    Amp meter install issue

Right off the bat, the wire connectors were improperly attached to the meter studs. They should be between the two nuts. Attached as they will let any little wiggle, short out on the meter or bracket.

    Will an 8N Run A MF12 Baler

We bailed our entire front field years ago with our 2N with a McCormick 45 baler. It cruised along really well along the lighter, upper side of the field. In the lower, heavier area, I had to pop it out of gear due to the rather high 1st gear just to let it catch up. Not ideal, but as you said...

    Best Sparkplugs for 9, 2 & 8N

It makes no difference whatsoever. They are all quality plugs that in this low compression application will work identically. Depending on your amount of use, both plugs should last a decade or more with cleaning and gapping once in a long while. If you are fouling plugs, your problem is not the...

Still a spot for an 8N on a big farm?

There is definitely a place for an N on your farm. How about grounds maintenance? We leave a rotary mower on our 2N year around. It keeps the lane into the farm trimmed up. When hay season comes around, we mount our John Deere 350 sickle bar mower on the 2N and the Sidewinder wheel rake on the...

All in / all done! Finished up with a clutch and brake(s) adjustment and took 'er for a spin. Felt just like it did right off the show room floor. Well, it was born 15 years before I was, so I'm just guessing! :)
