Need a little help with brake shoe direction - 1952 Case VAI

As you can tell, I used a hammer and chisel to remove the drum I sent to you. I think I tried a long 3/4 drive ratchet on there, but was not able to keep the shaft from turning enough to break it loose. From your picture, it looks like your bolt might have more rust than mine did. A method that...

    oil pressure relief valve

It's on the oil pump. Have to remove the oil pan. Did someone put a pump from a diesel engine in it? They run about 80 pounds pressure.

Case 300 push rod tubes leaking oil.

Oops, I didn't realize that the early heads, the VAC and early 300, had no o-rings. I thought all those heads with push rod tubes were the same. I guess all the ones I have worked on were either 148B or 159 engines.

Case 300 push rod tubes leaking oil.

Those tubes have been a trouble spot on any Case small block gas head for years and those early VAC engines are 80 years old. The best time to replace them is when the head is off for a valve job and the tubes are somewhat cleaned. The o-rings are standard dimension, but make sure you get good...

    Long Gone

To this day there are a few smells that take me back to those memories of the local Case dealer. A trip there with my dad was better than any candy store or amusement park. The smells of a little leaked gasoline in the shop, cigarette smoke at the parts counter (which was one of the few places I...

Case IH 595 hydraulic issues when hot

I had a 674 IH that was acting like that and after rebuilding the orbitrol steering pump I noticed that one of the remote hyd. levers was stuck in the full stroke position and causing the hydraulic oil to heat up.

Robert Bosch P pump on Ford F-800

I am trying to remove the injector pump on a 7.8 L Ford engine because the truck was setting for several years and the pump is not putting out fuel. I have a manual for the truck engine and have removed all the lines and controls to the pump. I have taken all the bolts out that hold the adapter...

    Case 611B hydraulics

They are made that way. That rectangular bock that your hoses are threaded into is called an interlock and the engine has to be running to move any hydraulic fluid. Even the Eagle Hitch won't go down without the engine running.

430 DOM lift piston sticks in rockshaft housing

Thanks for the reply Tgrasher. His cylinder walls ended up being beat up a little. After he got the bumps smoothed out and the cylinder bore honed it's working smoothly.

430 DOM lift piston sticks in rockshaft housing

My neighbor is working on his 430 Draft-o-matic that he bought recently and every time he lifts the 3pt. hitch up the piston in the rockshaft housing sticks in the raised position so tight that he has to take the rockshaft housing apart and pound the piston out of the cylinder.

    sediment bowl gasket

I also had a hard time finding those gaskets. I got some either from John Saeli or Case IH. But I have a bunch of the wrong size gaskets that were supposed to fit Case that I ordered on line. As far as I know, Case always used the same sediment bowls up through the 1960's. A11208 was the part...

Oil pressure indicator on Case Model C

Bob, as I recall ( I don't have a picture in front of me), there is a system of oil pressure lines inside the crankcase and one of those lines feeds that oil pressure indicator on the inside which is just a spring loaded plunger that responds from the oil flow in that system. If you remove the...
