    What KIND of solder?

I used JB Weld to seal the filler neck about 10 years back on my 22 radiator and the repair has held. I think the op is talking about the top hose pipe so results could be different. The radiator should be non-pressurized which makes makes getting a seal easier. Repairs shops that work on...

keeping air in old tires? ,,.

X2 on checking the water fill valve which is shown as the old style valve. Most older tractors have this style unless the tubes have been replaced. The leak can be slow from this valve so turn the stem to 12 oclock, and hold under water for a few minutes and check for bubbles.

Farmall 300/400 Hydra Valve O rings

Just an update on how my hydra touch repair is progressing. I was able to source all the needed orings from Motion Industries. They need ID and thickness since most of the part numbers have been changed. I do have a service manual which did help. The fist valve was a learning experience...

    Farmall 300 hydraulic filter

Thanks, I made a gasket after asking the question and did notice the holes are off. Got ahead of myself.

    Farmall 300 hydraulic filter

Came across a picture that shows the seam at about 1 oclock, the baffle points down with the half hole at the bottom of screen. Looks like the purpose of the baffle is to reduce fluid fires going back into the reservoir.

    Farmall 300 hydraulic filter

I removed the hydraulic filter and did not notice the battle inside the filter. Do I install the baffle up or down, sideways or will it only fit one way? The tractor isn't close, otherwise I would check to see if it only lines up one way. What have you found to be the way to clean the screen?

Farmall 300/400 Hydra Valve O rings

300guy, Thanks for the advice. I have changed course and decided to replace the O rings in the valves. As stated prior I purchased 3 extra valves for a good price, so I might as well do this up front. Another poster stated he made a garter spring installer from a plastic funnel end. The...

Farmall 300/400 Hydra Valve O rings

OK, I decided to install the new to me valves without an O ring refresh to the 3 valves. Why? My local CNH dealer either has or can get the various O rings, cost around $150 total. Just changing the valves with the O rings that go between the valves about half the amount. It seems wise to...

Farmall 300/400 Hydra Valve O rings

Charlie M, Thanks I did try Messicks other options, but no joy. On the one size that takes over 20 O rings, they are out of stock and show a price of over $4 ea. It looks like even if Messicks were in stock, the cost to replace all the O rings would be way North of $100. Hence my question...

Farmall 300/400 Hydra Valve O rings

I know the O ring topic has been discussed before but the search feature does not bring up the topic. I have a Farmall 300 with a 3 valve system, no power steering. A few years back I replaced the O rings between the valves but not the O rings in the valve. The leaks slowed but some of the...

    Farmall 300 Hydra Touch Orings

Thanks much. I thought the .003 had to be wrong, maybe the weight of each oring.

    Farmall 300 Hydra Touch Orings

Thanks, On line says out of stock. I will give the local dealer a call. Is the width/thickness .003 inch as the diagram shows, that would be really thin. Other sites (Not CNH) shows the part to be 1/16inch thick which sounds about right.

    Farmall 300 Hydra Touch Orings

Purchased extra valves, so I am putting list together of all the various orings needed. The orings for the valve shafts seem to not be available anywhere My drawing shows the part as #355967R1. Size .364” by .003” thick. The part number comes up but shows the size as 3/8” by 1/16”. Does...

    Farmall 300 hydraulics

I was not clear, my question is has anyone replaced the entire tree? My thought is if I replace the entire I will not touch the valves no sign that they leak. If I just replace the valves I would do all the orings. I have never had one of these valves apart so do not know what to expect. I...

    Farmall 300 hydraulics

A nearby Farmall 300 parts tractor has the complete hydraulic tree for sale. Reservoir, handles and the valves for a good price. My thought is to renew all the orings including the orings in the valves in the purchased unit and swap the entire tree or should I just reseal the valves and use...

    Massey Harris 44

Most likely the spool valve. However it can be the cylinder has developed a scratch in the wall which is allowing fluid by the o ring. The spool valve cannot be renewed, if you find a replacement get the spool and the spool body. These were hand fit from the factory. The cylinder has a snap...

    Farmall 300 Hydraulic Valve

Are the three valves interchangable? It looks like the right and center are the same. Not sure about the left. Sellers on eBay list the position but does it matter? My right valve has the control lever welded to the shaft, the spines must have rounded out so it was welded. Not sure how...

Garter spring number 360606R1. I found 1 in stock so far.

    Farmall 300 Hydraulic Valve

The diagram shows the valve. The shaft is number 30, the oring is number 26. The tractor has a stacked 3 valve system. Getting the garter spring back in place is an unknown. I was hoping the cap could be removed, remove the shaft, replace oring and reassemble. My guess is the spool and guts...

    Farmall 300 Hydraulic Valve

I know the topic has been discussed before but did not see an answer to my specific question. I changed orings between the valves which helped with fluid leaks, I did not change the small oring on the valve shafts so I still have leaks. Now to my question. Must the valve be completely...
