    Putting the Generator away

Whenever possible I run the carb dry and rarely have starting issues. Unlike many I run ordinary alcoholic gas, my equipment is all either new enough to have been built with alcohol resistant fuel lines and whatnot or has had those parts replaced by now with current stuff.

Liability Insurance coverage on timber or pasture land

Insurance can be very, very strange. Back when I bough my first larger vacant land property many years ago I needed basic insurance coverage on it. At the time I was still living at my parents. Long story short, my agent concluded that my parents homeowner's policy would cover my liability on my...

    Different size trailer tires

Since a trailer has no differential, no 4x4, no ABS (unless a semi trailer), etc. the rev/mile and size are much less critical. Trailers are also rarely loaded perfectly balanced so if it's riding 3/4" higher on one side that would matter little. In tandem singles the equalizer should compensate...

    Different size trailer tires

Insufficient info. Tandem axle? Duals? What tire sizes on each wheel? Fully loaded or light?

    Aluminum wheels on my trailer

I might note that a great many semis use aluminum wheels to save weight. The material isn't what matters it is the ratings on the particular wheel.

Welding machine for building up pin bores...

They work with your MIG welder, gives rotation and infeed to do spiral buildup which you then need to line bore back to proper size. Check snowball engineering on youtube, he has a few videos using one.

F 250 need shocks, which ones to buy?

Also note that your 2015 truck may need new body mounts. On my 2016 they were completely shot by 2024. I replaced them with the S&B silicone mounts which while a bit pricey work very well and should last a lot longer than the OEM foam rubber junk.

F 250 need shocks, which ones to buy?

Is that why the trucks have a steering stabilizer from the factory?

F 250 need shocks, which ones to buy?

The 0-1" lift or the like is for the stock factory setup, the others are for aftermarket. The 0-2" option works fine on my F350 4x4 which has those same 3" factory blocks in the rear. Buy the full set, rears, fronts and steering stabilizer, you will be happy with the results especially if...

F 250 need shocks, which ones to buy?

Bilstein 5100 series, just lookup by application. If factory get the 0-2" ones. If some aftermarket lift kit you'll need to measure. Get the Bilstein 5100 series steering stabilizer as well. No need for any dual setups. 5100 series is good performance and service life at a reasonable price and...

When’s the last time you acetylene welded?

I don't think I've ever done O/A welding. I started with TIG and mostly did that for a number of years until my shop space shrunk and I had to work on stuff outside the shop so I switched to mostly stick. More recently I got a nice ~40# MIG/stick machine I have loaded with flux core and have...

I don't get tired operating my tractor

Around 2012 I concluded I probably had sleep apnea, poor sleep, waking unrested, etc. I got a pulseox with data logging and the data seemed to support my conclusion. I found a sleep doc, told him, got a sleep study and he said I was definitely correct, AHI was 92. I got a decent APAP (auto set)...

    Go-Jo original formula

Zep products are generally good. I haven't tried "cherry bomb", but their purple degreaser, anti-rust and glass cleaner all get regular use here. Fast Orange is what I have in the shop, both the tub or gook as well as the pre-coated wipes. They may not be the best, but they do what's necessary.

    Guessing your age bracket .

Never used on a car, apparently too young for that, but I do have a package of the "body shims" from HF and use them somewhat regularly for the noted alignment purposes on all sorts of things. Certainly worth the few bucks to have on hand vs. chasing around looking for a piece of scrap the...

    Infrared thermometer

Get the better Ames branded one from HF, it has adjustable emissivity setting which is what you need for accuracy across different target materials. You can find emissivity charts online to use to select the appropriate setting.

    Leatherman multitool-which is the best?

Absolutely dedicated tools will be more efficient, however the time savings of having a servicable tool on you vs. having to walk 100' or more to the shop to get the "proper" tool and 100' or more back to use it will save you man-years of time even if the less efficient tool makes the actual...

    Leatherman multitool-which is the best?

When I last checked / purchased, the Supertool 300 was one of the only US made models left, the rest made in China (not that they aren't still a good product). I've used my Supertool 300 enough to wear it out and send it in for the lifetime warranty repair (~$5 postage), and of course being...

    Vacuum fill coolant tool

Vacuum coolant fill tools are required for a lot of vehicles these days to eliminate trapped air pockets. Most radiators don't have caps anymore, but they should still have a drain port/valve at the bottom.

    Another pole barn ?
