    M602 hydraulics

Check the relief valve in the main valve block. I had really weak hydraulics on my M602, and like you, assumed it was the pump. Replaced the pump, lo and behold, no change. Dug deeper, and found that the piston in the relief valve was stuck partially open. Popped it out, cleaned it up, put it...

    dry Chevy engine

Umm, Keith, that looks an awful lot like a 6.6L Duramax. Even harder to pour oil in them cylinders. Lol.

    dry Chevy engine

Unless you're going to hook into the main oil gallery and pressure lube the engine prior to startup, don't worry about it. Fill with oil and go. With a 6.0L, the only thing I would be at all worried about getting oil to pronto is the cam and lifters, and squirting oil in the cylinder isn't...

    Parts Washer Solvent suggestions

It's not cheap, but I'm partial to Walter Bio-Circle L or Bio-Circle Ultra. It's effective, and isn't hard on the hands. Also, no fumes, just a slightly citrusy smell. I think, if I remember correctly, it also eats oil residue and turns it into a floating film that can be skimmed off, so you...

    Antifreeze

Antifreeze is a really deep rabbit hole, far deeper even than engine oils. I had the misfortune of having to dive down that rabbit hole last week, so I'll try to pass on a few tidbits that I picked up. Some of the different formulations are based on the differences in water quality (such as...

    G-VI hydraulic pressure?

To have any speed and strength with a backhoe mounted on just about any tractor of that era (short of one purpose-built for a backhoe), you would have to set up a hydraulic pump to run off the belt pulley drive or the PTO. I've seen a few different setups, some more professional than others.

    Driverless Big Rigs

I spent the last hour just trying to get my computer to see my scanner. So will a computer be able to safely drive a 140k lbs. baffle-less tanker full of 35% hydrochloric acid through snow and ice in a mixed on and off-road setting? Pardon my not being particularly scared for my job security, lol.

    baler twine.

The Westlock Landfill is supposedly part of the pilot program for recycling grain bags and plastic twine. I don't know any more about it, you'd have to contact them for more info. cleanfarms.ca is the website I found the info on. https://cleanfarms.ca/

Things not built like they used to be

If the Super 92 is such a mechanical marvel, why has it not been started for the last 10 years? Hold on, let me guess - you have a newer, larger combine than the Super 92. Sprint 6 said it pretty well, I don't have much I care to add today.

    Flashlights

I have a Pelican 3315 that's bright and is only on-off, no other modes. Been good so far. I've also had great luck with the Nitecore rechargeable flashlights I've had, although they are a bit pricey. Crazy bright for a small flashlight though.

    John Deere A tire

The bigger question is, unless you are building a puller, why on earth would you put 18.4-38 tires on a model A?

    Speced out truck ?????????

Speccing a truck starts with the obvious stuff, such as engine brand (selection varies from truck brand to truck brand), engine horsepower and torque ratings, clutch, transmission, wheelbase, frame size and thickness, rim and tire size, rear axle weight ratings and ratios, driveline size...

    Straight pipe or muffler

I know of a couple of circumstances where a straight pipe was put in place of a broken-off muffler simply to get back to work right away. Most times though, its just showboating. A few of my occasional-use tractors around here have straight pipes because I like to hear them bark, but I also wear...

    Favorite Semi Tractor?

This is the 2015 Western Star 4900EX that I custom ordered in 2014, and sold a couple of years ago with 800,000 kilometers on the clock. 600 horsepower DD16 Detroit, 18 speed Roadranger, 46k Meritor rear axles, 244 inch wheelbase, 68 inch sleeper. I liked the truck itself, it was solid and drove...

Thanks Joe, that makes sense. Learned something new today, lol.

    Weak Hydraulics.

Check the system relief valve before looking at replacing the pump. I made that mistake on my Minneapolis M602. I could only reach 600 psi at full throttle, pump was much easier to get at than the valve bank so I found a used pump and put it on. Same problem. Pulled the valve body out and pulled...
