    Anyone know what this is for.

    It is a mount for a slow moving vehicle triangle. They had a piece you fastened on the SMV. It would slide into the mount you have in photo. It made for quick easy removal of the SMV when you wanted it off and out of the way.

    Any historical markers near you?

    About 30 years ago my brother had a fake historical marker made up for his front yard. It said: On this site on April 20, 1873 Nothing Happened. I think the Indiana weather got the best of it over time and he no longer has it there.

    hand truck (dolly) flat-free wheel suggestions?

    I needed a tube in one tire on my handcart. I went to Harbor Freight and bought an air tire on a rim for about the price that a tube alone was going to cost at Rural King. I realize you want a solid tire but this works for me.

    What This Be?

    Before someone says it: I know the green thing is a ruler. This new part came from liquidation of a golf course. Was on a shelf with mower parts, so it is probably for a riding mower. Any help is appreciated.

    120 acres seems like a really lot of ground to farm in 1848 unless a lot of it was wooded or swampland and not tillable. That would be a lot of walking behind a mule with a one bottom plow.

    Time to let my tractor parts go, can't take them with me

    Hobo, If 1 or 2 guys can load up over 10,000 lbs of scrap in just 3 hours or so, I would not want to mess with them. I am old and wore out now, but even in my younger days I would not tangle with someone with that much muscle and stamina.

    pickup dump bed

    I looked into that in the 1970s when I sold a lot of firewood and dump trailers were not invented yet or at least not common around here. From talking to guys that sold the conversions, I discovered that I could not use my heavy duty trailer hitch on the truck if I installed a dump bed.

    I don't want more wood.

    Most folks around my area that used wood for heat have went to pellet stoves. They even have cooking grills that use pellets. Even though corn is plentiful, corn gums up the stoves so people use the pellets. As I stated above, most wood I sell is mostly for campfires and fire pits.
