In praise of LED lighting for older tractors!

I believe Steiner has LEDs for 6V systems. I've converted both of my tractors (12V systems)

    1963 4010 wide front question

We figured it out. Specs were in the operator’s manual.

    1963 4010 wide front question

We just adjusted the width on our wide front on our 4010. We have the service and parts manual, but we are a little confused as to what the torque spec is on the three bolts on each side of the axle as well at the blots for the tie rod adjustment. Any help please.

    Craftsman Tools

As a follow up, I stopped into Lowe’s tonight and they replaced it, no questions asked.

    Craftsman Tools

I may just be out of luck as my socket wrench was purchased back in the Sears days about 20 years ago. May try Ace as it's a lot closer to me than Lowes. Won't blame them if they don't replace it.

    Craftsman Tools

Does Craftsman still honor the lifetime warranty of "if it breaks, we'll replace it for free no questions asked?" I know the brand has changed hands since the Sears days and it's been since then when I last returned a broken tool. If not, I'll just replace with something else.

    What type of oil?

NAPA can get it for you. My dad buys it from his local NAPA store. Otherwise most farm stores have it. Typically they only have it in their "in house" brand of oil (like Harvest King) not in the major name brands. Rotella is a popular brand around here and they may have a non detergent as well.

Is it best to store tractor full of gas or empty of gas?

Considering I've had both tractors over 10 years, not too worried about it.

    What is it?

Found this at a tractor show. It will become wall art in my shop, but curious what it is? I won't modify it at all, just blast and paint in case someone wants to buy it one day :p

Is it best to store tractor full of gas or empty of gas?

I just throw some Stabil in mine, run them for a few minutes and then shut off the gas and let them run dry. Nothing else. Don't fill the tanks full with gas and I use Ethanol gas. Never had an issue. I do start them occasionally during the winter.

    Plow day aftermath

I'm 45 and know how to use one. I've plowed with JD A's and a Farmall M. Most the guys I've gone out plowing with generally have one or two guys watching as you're going down the field and then they will stop you and make adjustments. That's how I learned. Some of the guys, especially with...

Not to hijack the JDSeller post

I've been around here awhile, but that handle doesn't ring a bell. Unfortunately some great members with a lot of information have been lost to father time.

    Early production anomalies

The correct police went off on me because my decals aren't supposedly the correct dimensions from the body lines on my WD45. Wanted me to pull them, buy a $50 book explaining the decals locations on Allis tractors and go at it again. I told them to go pound sand as the guy installing them at...

    Rollback truck and trailer

I'd rather just unhook a trailer than have to move ramps any day.

    Parts sold here

Been buying parts from the new owners of this site for years. Really nice since I drive by their showroom on occasion when I go to visit my parents and can just stop an buy the parts I need. My only gripe is it seems they carry less of the antique stuff at their showroom site than they used...

Ferguson TO35 Will Not Even Pull Start

I'm no wiring expert, but my Allis WD45 did that awhile back and it ended up being a bad ground. Possibly the key unit maybe bad? Luckily no computers to mess with. (y)

    Farmall M Belt Pulley Leak

So I have researched this topic on here and have known for awhile that the seal on the end of the belt pulley shaft is leaking. I get the only way to swap the seal is to pull the whole unit. My question is, the oil in the unit, is that drawn up out of the oil for the transmission or is it it's...
