    Thanks for all the comments, the manual adjustment vis inspection window and gapping that way is good advice. And I should have clarified the pressure plate is the diaphragm style (like 16 fingers not the 3-4). I will back it off so there’s at least a 1/8 inch gap and see how the clutch grabs...

    These later models had sealed throw out bearings so no. The original I took out lasted 50 years. And my only other guess if by free travel they mean clutch fork travel or foot pedal travel. Or one in the same?
