I bet the Oregon 33-053 module would work, which you can still buy. I have one that I got to put on a saw and never did. You got me wanting to try it out on one of the old mags I have sitting around. If I ever get a free moment I will try it out and report back

that is awesome! I figured it would work just like it would on a chainsaw mag

I would think that using a module on one of these would be fairly straight forward. The module should just sense the voltage signal from the mag, then dwell, then break the primary circuit, just like the points would just without the moving parts.

removable top is the 4J. Got one that was said to be dead for parts but would be interested in doing what you have done to this one if the coil is actually toast. You can build a magnet charger pretty simple to "recharge" them if the magnets are weak. I prefer a mag 2:1 over a distributor.

    Was that a 4JMA or a Model 41?

You can buy parts ones on eBay. That is what I do. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, if they don't you've got plenty of parts to keep yours going.

You should be able to weld a nut to what's left of the bolt and get it out. Might take a few attempts but I have not had a situation yet where that did not work. I took a ball peen and lightly encouraged the shifter on mine to get moving, I think mine was in neutral though, but would be worth a...

How to free a stuck engine?

This is what has worked for me on a 1952 SC Case and a 1951 JD B: remove the spark plugs and spray a abundant amount of seafoam deep creep in each cylinder. Then come back through and fill them the rest of the way up with 50/50 ATF/Paint thinner. Remove the starter so that you can get at the...

Rims should not be terrible to find second hand. I can usually find plenty of 9x38 drop centers, the 11x38s are harder to find used bua 9in wide is all you need for an 11.2 tire Despite them sitting flat for years the tires on mine actually are ok and have been holding air for about a year and...

    1950 model b jd.

You ever get this moving? I have a 1951 that was in the same shape. Engine stuck, brakes stuck, steering stuck, shifter stuck etc. I removed the brakes and got it to roll after removing the clutch. Got the engine to turn over, but it will not roll in gear, even with the clutch still...

    1953 Case DC Brakes

IF he did not use a sleeve to slide the seal over the splines for the brake hub it could have ripped it. I would just tear it back apart and see what is going on as this is a very easy job if you have any mechanical inclination. Just make sure that you lock the opposite side brake before pulling...

Yes, looking at the back of the gauge your alt lead will go on the left, then run a jumper from the right lead to the battery side of your starter switch. Also, make sure you run a heavy enough wire from the alternator to handle the amperage. Most GM style 1 wires are 63 amp so it technically...

They provide some clamp for the gasket on the ends of the top tank. On the bottom the large 1/2in x 5in long bolts do the same thing when you mount the rad assembly. Edit to add: If you are asking what the hex screws in the sides are in my pictures, that is where I attached the chain to lift...

    Case D hydraulic pump

That is exactly what was wrong with mine, I just took mine on a 40 mile ride Saturday and it was perfect on the temp the whole time with the new core. You may consider replacing the lower tank while it is all apart. I got a good used one sent to my door for $125. Be glad to help you more if...

You’re probably committed to drilling at this point. I will never use one of those screw extractors again on cast iron. I used one to try and remove the broken drain pipe out of dads ‘50 and it cracked the tank. The good thing is you can up drill it and put a thread sert in it if the threads...

You must be right, I used some pieces of old inner tube just to give it some cushion, but it would probably have been fine with out.

    DC top speed

The guys on the Deeres behind me I think were cruising in 6th at like half throttle, I was on the governor on the DC to get 10 but like I said they were more than happy with that pace, and is only like 1200-1300 RPM for me. None of us ever slowed down on the hills, which is typically where I...

    Case D hydraulic pump

There are 14 bolts in the bottom and 16 in the top. The extra 2 in the top are those flathead screws on the outer edge. I welded nuts to the top of mine to get them out. Once all of those are out everything should separate, make sure the little shroud piece at the top is removed, if not the...
