    Tractor Pulls

I was one of the volunteers many years ago at Sauk City, Wisconsin. The tractors pulled a stone boat. We sat on folding chairs and stepped on as the stone boat went by to add weight. I weighed about 135 lbs so probably didn't affect the pulls too much. 😅

New to us John Deere B

Replaced the flat front tire with one of the tube and tire combinations I picked up at the Classic Green Reunion. Held air overnight. As a long-time dirt bike rider I have a habit of leaving them overnight to be sure I didn't pinch a tube on the install. 😉 Also waiting for new felt washers...

    Polaris 325 Magnum Not Running

Just a thought. Double check the muffler. Not common on a 4 stroke engine, but many a 2 stroke engine running problem is solved by cleaning the baffles or spark arrestor on the muffler end of the engine.

Serial number is 33430. I got the flat front tire off the rim. A nice 80+ degree summer day for that job.

I don't really know how to record video with cellphone. This should be a few seconds of the B running in our poleshed. Started working on replacing flat front tire today. Soon a good cleaning and check fluids, grease etc.

New to us John Deere B

Update: June 28, 2025 we brought the tractor home. Only 5 or 6 miles from their poleshed to our poleshed. Discovered most 7' trailers are actually 81" or 82" wide between the fenders. Needed 84" for width of rear tires. So, we had local tow truck do the job.

New to us John Deere B

I went to the Classic Green Reunion in West Bend Wisconsin last week. B was the featured tractor. I saw a few "certificate" like papers listing the manufacturing date, delivery location etc. Are you familiar with those? Didn't see any exhibitors by those to ask how they got them.

Didn't want to steal a thread

Agree. Find it humorous that Busch Light says it is cold enough to drink when the mountains on the can are blue.

New to us John Deere B

Another update. Went to Classic Green Reunion in West Bend, WI on Thursday. Picked up a matching pair of Carlisle front tires and tubes. One front tire on tractor doesn't hold air. The other is severely weather checked. Visited with a few of the folks displaying John Deere B tractors. That...

New to us John Deere B

Update as of June 11, 2025. Went over to shed where the tractor is stored. Met the owner and we worked on getting it started. Cleaned and adjusted the points. Had to search a bit to find my set of feeler gauges. Tested for spark at the end of the wire. Nice and crisp. Put the plugs in and it...

Dick Trickle was famous for having a cigarette lighter in his race cars. Many pictures showed him with a cigarette in his mouth.

    Silo for Saturday

I will be 76 in April. Grew up in rural Wisconsin. Worked on neighbor farms. Forked corn silage from a silo by hand, then they got a silo unloader. Still had to fork it into a silage cart and place it in the mangers in front of the cows. A few years later they got a bunk feeder for more...

    Did I ever mention....

Oddly enough I know two guys whose nickname is "Nine Toes". They don't know each other. One actually passed away a few years ago.

When’s the last time you acetylene welded?

A good friend of mine fixed many a dented dirt bike pipe with a torches and a coat hanger. He has a set up to plug both ends of the pipe and add about 15 lbs of air pressure. Heat badly dented pipes with a rosebud tip and the dents usually popped back out. Occasionally a seam would tear open...

Update on Sputters, dies, then restarts

Many years ago I found a dead horse fly in the fuel line just before the carb. I had taken the line off at the carb to check fuel flow. Farmall Cub. Ken
