    RC Case

I saw a single front steel wheel on marketplace for $500 a while back. So I would say 700-900$ in steel wheels. Then value of tractor. My thought is more like $1600-1800.

    SAVE IT ER NO?

Saved a 51 sc a few years ago for parts paid less then scrap price at the time great tinwork. Just pulled the head and intake the other day for parts on a 1950 sc I’m working on. Lo and behold the 51 had pop up pistons. One sleeve shot for sure but still pleasantly surprised. Save it if you can.

Case 2090 grindin noise when clutch is pushed all the way down.

No. No spool valve involved when planetaries grind. It’s strictly a mechanical placement around the shaft and inside the hub There’s three little screws that keep that bearing holder in place. It could be that 1 or 2 of the screws are loose/broken/gone and cause that bearing to go crooked...

Case 2090 grindin noise when clutch is pushed all the way down.

In forward 1-2 powershift those gears and hub are locked up/ not turning but with clutch in/reverse/ and powershift 3 the planetaries rotate in the hub. I would say planetary issue for you. Got to be split to fix

Case 2090 grindin noise when clutch is pushed all the way down.

Does it make the noise in reverse too? I had a 2090 do it too. Planetary bearing holder broke and allowed planetary gears to move at a wrong angle. Chewed gears up pretty good. Just guessing for your “grinding noise”

    1030 FWA

It’s an Elwood front axle similar to those used on some Minnie’s and farmall/internationals. I read years ago that Case made 3 actual prototypes and the one in Collin’s Iowa is one of those. There were some aftermarket ones but I haven’t seen or heard about those for quite a few years.

    Finally got RC going

Bought this seven or eight years ago and it was loose but no spark. Pulled the mag and cleaned it last year but just got it back on with great spark. Compression was low but I figure it sat for 10-15 years before I got. Had son pull me around the yard and popped off within a hundred feet. Blew...

    1930 C turning brakes

My father recently got a 1930 C on steel. It’s kind of rough but rebuildable. It has turning brakes on each side which I haven’t seen before. I have 2 other 1930 Cs both on cutoffs and neither one have turning brakes, just a hand brake. Is this common on a C?

    Your next Case

Oh my. So many choices. I’m looking for an SI, R or RI, or a V or VI. Trying to find some odd tractors to expand my horizons. But of course any Case would work for me.

    Finally got one DC AWF

Here in Iowa I would guess it’s less than 5% with AWF. Probably 15% are DC4 and 80% are narrow fronts. That’s just estimates from my own experiences.

    Finally got one DC AWF

Brother bought a CC from this guy 20+ years ago and we saw this DC sitting there. He wouldn’t sell it. Been driving by it every few years. The man passed away a little while ago. He was in his 90s according to his daughter. He had other Cases. 400 gas stuck. 800 diesel, 1030. 1070. But I...

Removing sleeves from a Case SC

What type of puller are you using? If you are using a long threaded rod with a big plate steel at the bottom (commonly used) Take a heavy pipe or other piece of metal on the bottom end over he sleeve puller nut and hit the bottom plate of the puller with a BFH. (Big f…ing hammer) The metal on...

    DC hand holes.

I just ran out and took some pictures. So the 4 inch piston comes through holes easily on DC but does not fit through a 1930 C hole. Maybe later C/CCs. The 1930 C in the picture has never had the head off and previous owner pulled pistons out bottom around 50 years ago according to his son. You...

    DC hand holes.

You can reinstall the 3 7/8 pistons with new rings. If you look at the original 3 7/8 sleeves there is a bottom taper to help compress the rings as it goes back up. The 4 inch sleeves are bored big enough you can barely see the taper. 4 1/6 inch sleeves have no interior taper at all. I also...

    DC hand holes.

Actually they were to remove pistons through them. That why they’re diamond shaped. The 3 7/8inch piston comes out easily. The 4 inch piston is really tight and the 4 1/16 piston need grinding of the cast iron on the pan just a little. Done 5 DC rebuilds with pan on. 3 I did the pan had to come...

    DC Piston

So I showed you guys the corroded piston from the 1950 DC I’ve been working on. I think it only had a hundred or so hours on new sleeves and pistons when it was parked. No ring groove at all on sleeves 1&2. #3 piston was at the top but corroded and bottom of sleeve looked good so I was hoping...

    Bad miss

Have you cleaned the air cleaner lately. Black smoke and dies on throttle up, sounds like not enough air. That’s where I would start.
