    Engine serial number help

Just a thought. Allis Chalmers ran out of WD transmissions and had to use WD45 transmissions on the last of WD tractors in the last year of production. The best way to tell is the plate on the right of the engine. The WD has on bolted in plate there but the WD45 does not. The WD45 casting is...

    Model B tires

We have a Farmall Model B with a single front wheel. The tire is so bad we can't even get the size of the tire. The last two numbers look like 12 suggesting a 12" rim. Does anyone know the correct tire size? And does anyone have suggestions about where to buy a new (or used) tire? Thanks,

    Massey 44 Hydraulics

I have a Massey Harris 44 that I would like to pull a 12 foot disk harrow. First, will it handle the disk? Second, the disk has a hydraulic ram for traveling and controlling depth. The tractor has the hydraulic cylinder and control valve that came standard on a 1951 44. It does not have a...

    D 15 narrow front?

I think the D14 and D15 had the same front ends - wide and narrow. I have the narrow front that came with my D14. Your post doesn't say where you located. This item is very heavy and would be best if picked up. I am in mid Texas. Texas Denny

    D14 Transmission Dipstick

I have inconceivably lost the transmission dipstick. I remember faintly removing it to check the oil. Now it is gone. I've checked most of the usualy places for a replacement but had no luck. Could anyone help me out? If not the part, perhaps a picture so I could make one. Thanks, Denny

    Allis CA Engine/motor

The inside of the engine is full of rust. Owner said he blew a hed gasket and it has sat for 6 to 8 years. Must have had water in it instead of anti-freeze. The engine is seized and I'm having a lot of trouble getting off the rod caps so I can break it down. Rustiest engine I've ever seen...

    Vented Gas Cap

I bought my D-14 with one of those shiny chrome caps. It would run really well for an hour and then quite. The settling bowl would be half full. If you let it sit for an hour, you could repeat good running until it quit. I simply took my shiny gas cap an drill a small hole in the center...

    D-14 Starting

I've thought about the manifold or carb to manifold gasket. You're suggestion means I will check that next. It is about the only things that I can think of that I haven't tried. The yellow that I mentioned is that light bulb that goes between the distributor and one of the plugs. I don't...

    D-14 Starting

Hi again! I had some health issues which affected my perspective on everything. I've still got the issue but I am doing a bit at the ranch - mowing with shredder mostly. Simply cut way back on my outside activities. I sold a couple tractors but still have 15. I use the D-14 for almost...

    D-14 Starting

I've had my D-14 since 2001. Last year, I had problems with loss of power and sputtering. I finally determined that to be caused by fuel flow from the tank to the fuel bowl. I think my fuel flow is good now as it works great with full power and never misses even once. But starting has now...

    John Deere 50

That makes sense. The two that went in easy were the first two. After the next one went in hard, I paid more attention. Thanks,

Excellent. I thought abought that but didn't know if the stuff would take the temperature. Also, two of them screwed in by hand! Thanks Denny

    John Deere 50

I'm in the process of doing an engine rebuild on my 50. I removed all of the head bolts so that it would be possible to re-bore the cylinders, which is done at 0.045 over. I'm about to reinstall the head bolts and realize that most if not all of these bolts go into the block to the water...
