International 666 - water in oil

It's dripping between the sleeve and the block. But also, that same cylinder is scored heavily. Who knows how long it's been like that. No smoking and she's been chugging along for a while I bet. Probably just have this overhauled completely. It's got leaking injection pump, leaking...

Got it. We’re going to pull the pan.

International 666 - water in oil

So if I pull the pan and lightly pressurize the radiator and water drips onto the ground, then it is sleeve or sleeve/oring related and NOT head gasket? This thing leaks water into the pan without anything but static water pressure from filling so shouldn’t take much.

International 666 - water in oil

Man, I’m sorry guys. It’s diesel. I simply forget tractors if this size even came in gas.

International 666 - water in oil

Long story short, perfectly good running tractor has milkshake in oil pan after last oil change. We’ve confirmed water in the radiator going down and ending up in the pan. This occurred IMMEDIATELY after we replaced a leaking radiator with a new one. It’s just wierd. How do we diagnose? FIL...

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

Still waiting on parts but I modified two small Stanley vice grips I found at Home Depot for 6 bucks a piece. It slipped once so I had to really crank them down so tight I almost couldn’t close them. But once it broke free it was fine. We’ll see.

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

I did replace that one O-ring. It still leaks. I don't even know what a shop would use that I don't have to get it off. Even my 'mini' vice grips are too wide. I guess I can take them and grind them thinner and attach to the two gapped areas on the spool and see if that will work. Even if it...

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

Looks like this is going to require a specialty shop to fix. This one is NOT user serviceable. No way to unscrew the yoke without holding the back. 1200lb of vice and leather didn’t work. Gonna need a specialty tool to clamp where the green arrows are. some guy on youtube used a screw...

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

Got it out OK. I only have one O-ring that is accessible. Other one must be under the spring thing. I can't get that out without taking it apart and I can't get it apart without absolutely mangling every smooth surface on it. So, that's not an option. Looks like the yoke end unthreads, but...

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

That’s good to hear. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. If I can get my hex driver in there I might can do this without removing the dash. Lol.

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

Here is where she is leaking. It’s leaking out of this part. The steering wheel main shaft is to the right in the picture. Can I just remove the cap of this thing and fish out an o ring or something?

MF 240 Leak under steering wheel?

It is a mid 1980's MF 240 Perkins. The leak started immediately after fixing my leaking steering wheel cylinders. Bummer because those where a lot of work. Now I have to track down the leak under the steering wheel somewhere. I have not taken anything apart yet, but is there any common leak...

Foam in steering reservoir - where is all this air coming from?

I’d have to get new rods, which I have, but also have to probably get new cylinder “sleeves”. I worry that I may have ruined mine by running a 200grit hone through it. Didn’t think so. The cylinders worked but they didnt have any ability to move the wheels when attached. And then they leaked out...

Foam in steering reservoir - where is all this air coming from?

Yes, I pulled the pump to replace the o ring and filter. You have to. You can't get the tiny cover screws off if you don't. It seems OK other than a leaking plug, but I am not even kind of worried about that right now. UPDATE: On a whim, I installed some NEW aftermarket cylinders...

Foam in steering reservoir - where is all this air coming from?

I pulled the filter and steering pump and replaced that plus the o ring. Still got TONS of foam in it. Like my crystal clear hydraulic fluid turns into a yellow foam snake rolling out the fill hole. Maybe it's normal? I don't know. Maybe it's from the cylinders. I also rebuilt my steering...

Can I get these steering cylinders anymore?

1986 MF240, power assisted steering. I have the old cylinders off and when I actuate them by hand, I can feel one of them 'hangs' inside, like it is catching on a rough spot. At any rate, being as old as they are, and leaking, and the ball ends being worn, I considered replacing them...

I got it. Mine is a British built, and it is power assist.

Steering System - MF 240 - What do I have?

I'm so confused on looking at these parts books. This is a 1986 version. I don't know if I have power assisted steering or hydrostatic steering. I have a hydraulic cylinder on each side of the tractor that hooks to the steering knuckles. I have a pump with a round cover. The steering wheel...

Foam in steering reservoir - where is all this air coming from?

I guess. It's submerged in fluid, not sure how it can pass air. Also, not sure if the fill plug is even oriented right. The reservoir cover is round, so I guess it could be anywhere at all. My fill plug, if you are staring at it from the back toward the front of the tractor, is situated at 3...

Foam in steering reservoir - where is all this air coming from?

Can you reseal these? I guess I figured if that seal was bad then it would be leaking fluid out there as well, but I don't see anything.
