Bar Rakes - Still Any Demand for Them? Price?

I noticed the price fell out of them this year. I spend years looking for a 258/260 on the 252 tandem hitch before I went rotary, never could find a set for under $10,000....saw two this year....$3500 & $5000 for both rakes and the hitch! I traded a 256 in this year and it was on the...

Mowing with a 3 point Disc Mower

Direct hitch. Always park it on flat ground with cutter bar down, on short pieces of plank so mower can be manually wiggled if needed. Mower goes on and off as tractor constantly, but the mower is the only 3pt machine used on that tractor so top link and levelling link never need changed if...

    NH tandem rake hitch question....

1996 or so was last year for "Ford" oval on the tractors and equipment. Tractors were white roof/ Ford and went solid blue with New Holland decals and a tiny "Ford" in block letters on the side of the hood. I've come across a few 252 hitches, the paint and New Holland decals more or less the...

    valtra tractors

No, but it seemed there were several dealers around here and they all dropped Valtra. I still have some Valtra sales literature. They looked like a good machine?

Do any of you have any information on a Fransgard hay tedder

I'd also think tines might be the main thing to wear out/break. I suppose if the price is right it would work.

Looking to identify a rotatiller and how to attach it to my tractor

Looks like an integrated hitch tiller from a gray market tractor. I agree it's not 3pt hitch ready and likely not 540 gearbox.

Do any of you have any information on a Fransgard hay tedder

That brand was sold as shortline in Canada, I'd be nervous on parts unless you found someone still stilling new.

    4R100 transmission on 2000 F550 with 7.3 diesel

    I'd have a ZF6 over 4R100 100% of the time. With the ratios being pretty well identical the 3rd -4th shift on a 4R100 and 5-6 on ZF-6 are the same. Really should have been a ZF7 with a 0.85 OD between 5th 1:1 and 6th 0.72

    4R100 transmission on 2000 F550 with 7.3 diesel

My only complaint with the ZF-6 I had was the gap between 5th and 6th at 75 MPH highway speeds, red line in 5th gear on every hill, 4R100 has same split. I loved the spacing between 1-5, and the 5-6 gap wasn't an issue on 55 MPH roads.

    Beef calf leg issue

Did you have Vet check him? I have no experience with the exact issue, I'd be tempted to let him be and see what happens.

    Tedder tine orientation

The rotor shown turns clockwise. Kuhn tedder. Kuhn made all the NH tedders as far as I know.

    M7040 remotes

I have double valves (detent & float) on two M series (open and cab) and all work smoothly and easily. The detent valves do have a very firm detent engagement. I do keep my cables lubed on the valve end. I will say I use my float valve the most since I have a bunch of single hose...

    M7040 remotes

I used my float valve for baler tailgate. I prefer the feel of the valve compared to the detent. The detent is supposed to kick to neutral end of stroke. I do like the CaseIH valve like your 485 has better, detent, end of stroke, float all in one.

    TW 25 Shifting Method

You need to double clutch until you master the shift points. Observe the difference in RPM between gears (on tach) Example, if the RPMS drop 500 RPM between 1st and 2nd, that is how far you let the RPMs drop in neutral before pushing the clutch the second time and going into gear. Downshift...

    M7040 update and question

First remote is a detent remote that has locking lever with self cancelling. You can run wood splitter with this, but you have to tie the handle back or it will pop to neutral. Second (and third if fitted) remote can be detent or float. Float has 4 positions, up netural down float. Lever will...

Pulling two disc harrows at once

I'd plan to assemble at field and tow separately between field and farm. Evener would be ridgid and pinned/shackled to each disk hitch. I figure if they are spaced almost a disk width apart ( about 6 feet) turning should be ok, you would just have an untilled strip in the middle to get with...

Pulling two disc harrows at once

This was exactly the type of information I was looking for. I am now thinking to pull the harrows side by side with slightly less than a harrow width between them. Use a pipe spreader between the disk hitches and chain from each disk hitch running in a triangle to tractor drawbar. Adjust...

Pulling two disc harrows at once

Side by side would work, I thought about whipple tree set up. Also thought about pulling as a train.

Pulling two disc harrows at once

I've got two 24 plate tandem drag disc harrows from the 40s/50s. No hydraulic lift, just drawbar pull. Toying with pulling both with the same tractor with a tandem hitch of sorts. I have more than enough tractor to pull both. While a wider hydraulic lift disk would be the nice thing, these...
